Introducing the HOAD CREW!

For generations, the Hoad family has been a cornerstone of the Goolwa p**i industry. Following in the footsteps of their late father, Kevin Hoad, brothers Darren and Matt have built a reputation for hard work, resilience and determination. Today, that legacy continues with Matt's sons, Jace and Jiye, and Darren's son-in-law, Jimmy, working alongside them.
Long days, tough conditions and unwavering determination are all part of the job. The Hoad Crew's grit, teamwork and strong work ethic ensure the job gets done!

Let’s clear a few things up, because apparently facts have gone missing somewhere along the way.

To the experts sitting behind a keyboard claiming commercial fishers are out there taking “1000’s of p**is off the beaches” — do you actually know how the commercial fishery works, or are you just making s**t up?

We fish by quota. We operate within regulations, licences, legal sizes, reporting requirements and management controls. We don’t just turn up, scoop up whatever we want and drive home.

This is our livelihood. It puts food on our tables, supports our families and contributes to the local community. We work bloody hard for it, and we take our responsibilities seriously.

If you have genuine concerns about the sustainability of the fishery, that’s your right — but there’s a big difference between having a legitimate concern and throwing around ignorant accusations about people and an industry you clearly know very little about.

So before you start calling out “the pros”, perhaps take five minutes to learn the facts.

We don’t need lectures from people who don’t understand the fishery.

We know the rules. We follow the rules. We fish our quota.

So maybe put the keyboard down, do your homework and stop blaming commercial fishers for things you’ve simply assumed.

For many years you were Matt’s loyal fishing companion, always by his side on every adventure, sharing countless sunrises, long days on the water, and memories that will never be forgotten. When your fishing days were done, you embraced retirement, enjoying the comfort and love of home life surrounded by your family.
You were more than a dog; you were a faithful friend, a trusted companion, and a much-loved member of our family. Your gentle nature, unwavering loyalty, and loving presence brought us endless joy.
Thank you for the years of love, companionship, and treasured memories. The paw prints you have left on our hearts will remain forever.
Run free, Curly. The lines are always tight, the sun is always shining, and the water is always calm.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten.
