We’ve just cracked 1,000 followers! 🎉❤️

Honestly… what?! How did that even happen?!

A massive thank you to every single one of you who likes, shares, comments, and follows along with us here at Hartley House Cafe. It genuinely means more than you know.

It’s been a pretty wild ride lately — especially with the pass being shut and things not exactly being “easy street” for small businesses out here. But the support from this community has kept us going more than anything else ever could.

Every like, every share, every time you tag a friend or pop in for a coffee or a pie… it all matters. It keeps us visible, it keeps us busy, and most importantly, it keeps us believing in what we’re doing here.

So from our little team (who are now celebrating 1,000 followers and probably eating too many pies to cope with the excitement 🥧😂) — thank you.

Here’s to the next 1,000… hopefully a bit faster and with slightly less stress on the pass next time. 😉❤️

What a beautiful day! ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to Hartley House Cafe today and supported our market.

The morning started with that classic Hartley weather — the kind that makes you question every life choice you’ve ever made while scraping frost off the windscreen. 🥶 But before long, the sun was shining, the fire pit was crackling, and the village was buzzing with people enjoying a wonderful day out.

Thank you to all of our incredible vendors for braving the chilly start and bringing along your beautiful stalls. And thank you to everyone who came along, grabbed a coffee, enjoyed a pie, supported local businesses, and spent their Sunday with us.

A special shout-out to our amazing Hartley House team, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and out front all day. We are incredibly lucky to have such a hardworking bunch of legends keeping everything running smoothly.

Today was filled with great food, great people, plenty of laughs, and only a small number of people trying to permanently relocate themselves beside the fire pit. 🔥

if you left without a pie, and really wanted one I’m sorry, I think we cooked about 60-70 pies today -35 were goat 😂 and they went very quickly. . 🥧❤️

🚨 MARKET DAY HAS ARRIVED! 🚨

It’s 9am, the market stalls are setting up, the coffee machine is working overtime, and the pies have just gone into the oven. Life is good.

Now, before you use “it’s too cold” as an excuse… we’ve already thought of that. 🔥

The fire pit is roaring outside, so you can wander through the market stalls with a hot coffee or hot chocolate in hand, then park yourself by the fire and warm your toes while you wait for a fresh pie to emerge from the oven.

And yes… the famous goat pies are making an appearance today. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, today’s the day to find out what all the fuss is about.

We’ve got gorgeous local stallholders, fresh baked treats, plenty of country charm, and enough warmth to convince even the most dedicated homebody to leave their electric blanket for an hour or two.

So rug up, grab the family, and head down to Hartley House Cafe this morning.

A huge thank you today goes out to Ask Roz Blue Mountains, and also to Near or Far Bus Tours — Rod and Justine, you legends.

We can’t thank you enough for all the effort, time, and organisation you put into bringing bus groups down to Hartley today to support our local businesses. It really does make a difference having people who go out of their way to get visitors into our little village and keep things moving for everyone here.

It was so lovely to see the groups out and about enjoying everything Hartley has to offer, and we truly appreciate the role you play in making that happen.

We look forward to seeing you more in the future — you do a great job, and we’re very grateful to have you on board.

The pear tart.

Tomorrow’s line-up is getting a bit out of hand (in the best possible way).

Not only will we have our famous goat pies in abundance — the ones people mysteriously “just pop in for” and then leave with four of — but we also ran a little trial today on something a bit fancy…

A poached pear frangipane puff pastry tart, straight out of my very early culinary days back at Cleopatra Guesthouse (when I still thought puff pastry was something you didn’t have to swear at).

We made a batch today just to test the waters… and they basically disappeared faster than I could say “don’t touch that tray yet”.

So naturally, we’re doing it properly tomorrow — more available in the dessert cabinet, ready for anyone who wants to feel slightly sophisticated while also absolutely destroying a goat pie before hand.

See you tomorrow. Come hungry. And maybe don’t tell yourself you’re “just having one thing.”

If you’re even considering cooking tonight, I need you to close the fridge and back away slowly.

Because tonight from 4–8pm, the crew at Alchemy Pizza Bar are doing what they do best — woodfired, ridiculously good pizza that makes home cooking feel like a personal insult.

Crispy bases, bubbling cheese, toppings that actually behave themselves… the whole “why does this taste better than anything I’ve ever made in my life?” situation.

So don’t cook. Don’t negotiate with yourself. Just come eat.

And once you’ve recovered from that pizza-induced happiness…
