Did you know Gympie Meals on Wheels has been serving our community since 1971? ❤️
What began with the vision and support of Dr D.B Nimmo, the Lions Club, and a dedicated group of volunteers started from a small flat in Reef Street, where the very first meals were prepared and delivered to local residents.
As demand grew, operations moved to the CWA Rooms in Young Street before a free-standing kitchen was constructed on land at the Gas Works Reserve. Over the years, the need for our service continued to increase, leading to major extensions that doubled the size of our kitchen and allowed us to serve even more members of our community.
More than five decades later, our mission remains the same – delivering nutritious meals, friendly faces, and caring connections to those who need them most.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible volunteers, past and present, who have generously given their time, compassion, and commitment to helping others. 💙
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey over the past 55 years. Here's to continuing to serve our community for many years to come.
