Gympie She Shak Gympie She Shak is a space for women to just be. Social groups and classes, cafe, op shop and on site beauty therapist.

Gents are welcome at the op shop and cafe. All proceeds go towards providing this space for women.

As the She Shak has now been closed for nearly 2 months, I will be very soon deleting this account.

I have already posted in the group. I will not be approving new members (and haven't done so since announcing the closure) and will be shutting the group down. If you are in the group and have not seen the post, if you could help me out by removing yourself from the group, it means I don't have to spend hours removing people before shutting it down.

Thank you to those who have been supportive.

Zero thanks to those who have not.

For something like this to exist in a community, it needs the community support. Due to a small group, there are now many women who miss out, not to mention another micro business being shut down.

I don't mean to come across as ungrateful for the support that has been given, I just know there could have been so much more.

Well, that's a wrap. Thank you to all who came in over the last couple of weeks to help clear out as much as we could before closing.

To the wonderful Valerie Baxter - my gratitude for your support and countless hours to keep the op shop ticking over cannot be expressed in words. We will catch up for something soon so I can say thank you in person (I'm so sorry I wasn't able to be there yesterday - specialists don't seem to register that people have other things in life besides seeing them).

Those who have volunteered their time over the last almost three years, your contribution is just as valued, whether just a short time or an extended period.

I'm sure Lyd Mackenzie shares in my sentiments that while disappointing to have to close, new chapters have to happen eventually.

I am super grateful to Lyd for giving me the opportunity to establish the beauty space - I don't know what I would have done if her timing hadn't been absolutely impeccable!

Everyone who has donated to the She Shak in general over the last couple of years, Lyd and I thank you. Without that support, we couldn't have done what we've been able to do.

All that's left to do is empty what's left, clean up and hand over the keys.

Got the day off for Labour Day? The Gympie She Shak op shop is open from 10 am till 2 pm, especially for those who can't come in for a browse any other time because they're at work.

$10 fill a bag includes everything except bridal, formal and suits (which are all just $10 each anyway!

The She Shak will be open and $10 fill a bag will continue until all op shop stock is sold.

Once this stock is sold, fixtures and fittings will be posted for sale.

The rumour mill apparently is well and truly churning so don't believe anything you hear until you come see for yourself.

Opening hours until op shop stock is sold will be:

It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement today.

I have put countless unpaid hours over the last almost 12 months into brainstorming ideas and putting things into place to get the She Shak to a point where it covers expenses - which is all it needed to do.

Unfortunately, due to the actions of others beyond my control, I'm forced into a position where I need to close permanently. I'm deeply hurt by said actions and want to sincerely apologise to those who will be affected by the closure, but without the community support there is no way to cover expenses.

All stock in the op shop needs to go, so from Monday 20 April, everything with the exception of the bridal, formal and men's suits will be $10 fill a bag. Clothing, books, shoes, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, games - everything. Bridal, formal and suits will be reduced to $10 each.

Op shop will open at 10.30 am Mondays until 3 pm, Tuesday to Friday 9 am till 3 pm. Cash and card welcome, fixtures and fittings will be available at a later date to be announced. Please do not ask for anything to be held for you, it's a first come, first served basis.
