❤️ THE END OF A CHAPTER ❤️
Today was my last day at the Gold Mine Cafe.
This chapter started back in May 2025, when I took over the management of the cafe at the Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum — and from that moment on, I wore many, many hats! 😅
It’s been a journey filled with plenty of highs and lows, challenges, laughter, tears and some incredibly special memories.
One thing I will always be proud of is the space I created. I wanted the cafe to be somewhere that felt safe, welcoming and inclusive — a place where everyone could walk through the door and feel comfortable.
One of the greatest rewards was watching my two eldest daughters work alongside me, learning, growing and becoming more confident along the way. I couldn’t be prouder of them and everything they’ve achieved. ❤️
Financially, this chapter wasn’t always rewarding, and my own health brought challenges along the way, but there were rewards that money simply can’t buy. Seeing familiar faces walk through the door, hearing the laughter, sharing conversations and seeing the smiles of so many people made it worthwhile.
To my friends, my family and our wider community — thank you. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who supported me through the highs and the lows, helped when I needed it, stopped in for a coffee or a meal, shared a kind word, or simply continued to show up and support us. It has meant more to me than you probably realise.
Tomorrow, Kristy takes the reins, and I know she is going to do extremely well. I’m excited to see where she takes the cafe, and I hope our amazing community gets behind her and gives her the same wonderful support.
There have been lots of tears today because saying goodbye to something you’ve poured so much of yourself into is never easy.
But my time has come to an end.
It’s time for me to close this chapter, and it’s time for Kristy to shine. ✨
Thank you for the memories, Gold Mine Cafe❤️
Here’s to whatever the next chapter brings. 🥂
