🚧 Reef Street upgrade works begin next week 🚧
From Tuesday, 4 August, work will begin on the $1.6 million Reef Street upgrade between Young Street and the River Road roundabout.
The project will deliver a range of improvements, including a full road resurfacing, reconfigured on-street parking, improved footpath and driveway access, upgrades to the Reef Street and Young Street intersection, and a new raised pedestrian crossing to strengthen the connection between Memorial Lane and Memorial Park.
To safely complete the works, there will be a few changes to how you use this area of town:
🚗 Traffic will remain open with changed conditions and reduced speeds.
🅿️ On-street parking will be unavailable but close by street parking can be found along River Road and Young Street.
🚌 The Reef Street bus stop will be temporarily relocated to River Road opposite the Veterans Hub – Gympie RSL (39 Monkland Street).
☕ From 10th August The Hatch Specialty Coffee will relocate to the River Road Marketplace, on the corner of River Road and Jaycee Way while works take place.
We're working to minimise disruptions where possible and appreciate your patience while these important upgrades are completed.
Works are scheduled for completion December 2026, weather permitting.
