Big day in the Salingers kitchen.

Yesterday, our Chef Emily had her very last day of trade school and is now officially a fully qualified chef.

Yes Chef.

Emily is one of those people who just gets it. She has the passion, the focus, the attention to detail and the knife skills to back it all up. She cares about the food, she cares about the plate, and she cares about the people she’s cooking for.

And just as importantly, she brings a cracking sense of humour to the kitchen, which, let’s be honest, is a non-negotiable in this game.

Em, we are seriously proud of you. You have worked hard, backed yourself and earned every bit of this.

Congratulations Chef Emily. We’re lucky to have you.

Before it was Salingers, it was Salinger’s.

A general store on the Western Highway. A place for supplies, stories, passers-through and locals who knew exactly where to stop.

Fast forward a few years, give or take a century or so, and this old Great Western building is still doing what it has always done best.
