Not Sushi in the traditional sense even though we do serve basic Nigiri and the freshest Sashimi on the Gold Coast. So how can we sum up Kaizen? While the atmosphere is somewhat clinical and sterile, the fusion rolls are daring, different and delicious – dishes which would take pride of place in many a top class restaurant. They are part of the trend to ‘globalised fusion foods’, rather than traditional sushi. But many other foods which are seen as traditional are not really so: pizza, gyoza, ramen noodles, curries, and even roti have travelled the world and endured metamorphosis as part of their journey. Like most fusion food, some traditional techniques have been mastered to make these fusion rolls, with imagination bringing us exciting combinations of flavour and texture.
