The original Vault in Southport was a truly spectacular venue and will always hold great memories for many people. Nothing will ever truly compare to the original Vault not only because of the venue itself, but because of the love, loyalty, and energy we had from the musicians, patrons, staff, and everyone who made it what it was.
Every musician who walked into The Vault was respected. We had incredible talent travel from all around Australia and the world to play there, including Swanee Barnes, The Deltones, The Drifters, and many other amazing performers. The venue became known for supporting live music at a level that was very special. At times, we had more than seven bands a week, and those musicians played not only for the love of the venue, but because they were valued and appreciated. Complimentary meals, drinks, and genuine hospitality were part of The Vault’s way of respecting the beautiful talent that performed there.
Unfortunately, the Gold Coast Light Rail construction had a major impact on Southport during that period. With around two years of infrastructure works affecting the area, it became extremely difficult for the venue to keep moving forward. Without that disruption, I genuinely believe The Vault in Southport would have continued to thrive.
That said, we understand why a colleague would want to see the Vault name grow and continue in Broadbeach. It is nice to see the name and spirit alive again, and hopefully the new venue carries forward the same respect, appreciation, and hospitality toward musicians and patrons that made the original Vault in Southport so special.
Supporting The Vault Broadbeach means supporting the continuation of a name that carries a lot of history, respect, and honour from the original Vault Bar & Grill in Southport. Hopefully, The Vault Broadbeach continues to value true musical talent and uphold the spirit that made the original venue so loved.
