🥣A little farm stand experiment!

While I’ve been busy rebuilding my sourdough starter, it means I’ve had a LOT of discard that I can’t use for bread just yet. And having a weekend off gave me the perfect excuse to play around in the kitchen! 😍

So I experimented with sourdough discard granola!🥣✨ Full of oats, seeds, macadamia nuts, maple syrup with that tangy sourdough hint, so very delicious. I’m thinking of adding some of my freeze-dried berries for a pop of fruity goodness. 🍓🫐

I’m already imagining this sprinkled over Greek yoghurt for an easy breakfast or snack and honestly, it’s pretty amazing! ❤️

So the question is…

🌿 A Little Break at Nanny Vic’s Pantry🌿

After a very busy few months, we’ve decided it’s time for Nanny Vic’s Pantry Farmstand to take a little break!💕

We’ll be closed for the next three weekends while I take some much needed time to recharge and, perhaps most importantly, rebuild my poor, very overworked sourdough starter!😂🍞

That poor starter has been working overtime keeping up with all those loaves, focaccia, scrolls and sourdough goodies! It really needs a chance to rebuild some good strength.

So I’m giving the kitchen, the starter and myself a little rest. ❤️

We’ll be back before you know it, with a refreshed starter, lots of fresh goodies and plenty of new ideas coming out of the kitchen.

Thank you so much for all your support, purchases and lovely chats at the farm stand. It really does mean the world to our little family business. 🥰

🍓🫐 THE FREEZE DRYER HAS BEEN BUSY!🫐🍓

I’ve just finished a load of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in the freeze dryer and they are SO good! 😍

But what actually is freeze drying?

Freeze drying is a process where the fruit is frozen and then placed under a vacuum, which removes the water without cooking the fruit. This helps preserve the fruit’s flavour, colour and nutrients while giving it that amazing light, crunchy texture.

And the best part? 🍓➡️✨
All that delicious berry flavour is still there — just without the moisture!

So what can you do with freeze-dried berries?

🍓 Eat them straight from the packet — they're seriously addictive!
🧁 Crush them into powder for cakes, buttercream and icing
🍫 Dip them in chocolate
🥣 Sprinkle them over yoghurt, granola or cereal
🍓 Add them to cheesecakes and desserts
🍪 Fold them through cookies, brownies or white chocolate bark
🎂 Use them to decorate cakes and cupcakes
🥤 Blend them into smoothies or milkshakes
🍹 Add berry powder to cocktails, mocktails or drinks
🍓 Mix them into homemade chocolate or rocky road
