🎗September is World Alzheimer’s Month – a time to start important conversations about Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

A common misconception is that a diagnosis automatically means a person can no longer make decisions about their finances, legal affairs, or their future. But that isn’t necessarily the case. A person living with dementia may still have the capacity to make certain decisions, particularly in the earlier stages. It’s why conversations about the future are so important to have before a crisis forces them to happen.

Have you appointed an Enduring Power of Attorney? Do you have an up-to-date Will? And does your family know what your wishes are?

As part of World Alzheimer’s Month, our partners at Attwood Marshall Lawyers are encouraging families to start these conversations early.

Their recent article explains dementia and mental capacity in everyday life, and how planning ahead can help people retain greater control over their future.
