A little coffee fact-finding mission while we’re on our travels.
We’re having a little break in Thailand at the moment, and naturally, coffee has managed to make its way into the holiday conversation more than once.
Thailand produces around 16,200 tonnes of coffee in 2026, including about 10,750 tonnes of Arabica.
To put that into perspective, Australia produces only around 600 tonnes a year. So Thailand produces roughly 27 times more coffee than back home, and its Arabica production alone is around 18 times Australia’s total coffee production.
Most of Thailand’s Arabica comes from the cooler northern highlands, particularly around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
And we’ve loved seeing just how much coffee is part of everyday life here. Tiny cafés, busy coffee shops, iced coffees in the heat… there’s always another cup somewhere.
It’s also a nice reminder of why we love being part of the coffee world.
Coffee connects places, people and cultures in ways you don’t always think about when you’re standing at home waiting for your morning espresso.
Our little family business will be taking a few more days to enjoy the break before we head off again.
Tomorrow we’re leaving Thailand and heading to Germany to see family.
Then it’s back to Geelong, back to the roaster and back to doing what we love.
