Behind the scenes of running a small restaurant… 🍕
We usually don’t share incidents like this, but sometimes we feel our customers deserve to know what goes on behind the scenes.
Recently, an Uber delivery driver arrived at our restaurant without an insulated delivery bag. Our staff politely asked him to return with one. When he came back, he still refused to put the pizza properly inside his bag, despite being asked by the owner.
After an argument, we had no choice but to take the pizza back and ask for the order to be cancelled. Shockingly, the driver still marked the order as delivered on the Uber app, even though the pizza had never been delivered to the customer.
In the end, we personally delivered the pizza to make sure our customer received their food.
At Alfresco, we take pride in serving fresh, quality food. We spend time, effort and money making sure every pizza leaves our kitchen in the best possible condition. We also pay a substantial commission to delivery platforms, including 30% on Uber orders, trusting that the food will be handled and delivered properly.
To be clear, most delivery drivers we work with are fantastic, hardworking people, and we genuinely appreciate them. This post is about a particular experience and the behaviour we encountered, not every driver.
Our customers deserve better, and we will always do our best to make sure you receive the food and service you pay for.
Thank you for supporting our local business and understanding the challenges small businesses sometimes face. ❤️
