Small but mighty. And a little bit fancy.

Our Crab Potato Skin is crispy crab + potato skin fritto salad, jalapeño crema and salmon caviar all packed into one very good bite.

Crunchy, creamy, salty, with a little kick, basically proof that starters have absolutely no obligation to play a supporting role.

We’d order two. Just saying.

Owning a restaurant looks pretty good from the other side of the bar.

But behind the tacos, margs and busy nights, there’s a whole lot that people don’t see.

The decisions that need to be made, the things that go wrong, the constant problem-solving, the pressure of looking after a team and the reality that you never really switch off.

We sat Dan down to talk about some of the harder parts of owning restaurants, because Baja isn’t just the food that lands on your table. There are real people, a lot of work and a fair bit of controlled chaos behind it all.

BUT the big question is: would he do it all again and start from scratch? We’ll let Dan answer that one at the end of this video ;)

For one night and one night only, we’re pushing the tables aside and making room for a little more mischief than usual.

Baja is turning SEVEN (!!), which is a very good excuse for a party, obviously.

Saturday 29 August. Baja After Dark. 9pm ‘til late. DJ Les is bringing the tunes, the kitchen is bringing a late-night snack menu, and we’re staying up past our bedtime to see what happens when the lights go down and the music gets louder.

To everyone who’s worked with us, backed us, supplied us, and eaten with us, this one’s for you. Come for dinner. Stay for the party!

A Classic Marg, tequila, triple sec, fresh lime and a touch of sugar, next to our Al Pastor with slow-cooked pork, chillies, achiote, roasted pineapple and avocado green sauce.

Sweet, salty, smoky, citrusy, a little spicy. One sip, one bite, repeat until both are mysteriously gone.

Some pairings just make sense.
