Country Shout Out - Quirky Bar - Leongatha
I’m currently lurking around South Gippsland and I stumbled upon this gem - not a pub - but a bar! Plus a cafe, florist, gift shop, live music venue and karaoke hub. The bonus? It has got a lot of character!
Sonia and Steve took over the venue in September last year and spent the next year putting their own style into the space before opening the doors in November.
Both are locals, and it’s really clear how much of themselves they’ve put into the place. Sonia has her own florist, which started down the street and has now moved permanently into the Quirky Bar’s huge warehouse space. 🌸
Steve has decades of hospitality experience, including working in kitchens, and you can see that reflected in the food and drinks. The menu is really well put together, with plenty of care behind it. 👌
The theme for the joint is… quirky! Think swinging sixties meets disco era with a strong homage to Quentin Tarantino films and retro music.
The menu boasts at least 40 different handmade cocktails, all the classics, as well as local craft beers and wines. Pair your bevs with some fresh warm nachos or a charcuterie board. Listen to the live local music out front or come on the weekend and catch the band inside!
If you’re in Leongatha, definitely pop in and say hello to Sonia and Steve. And if you’re not, it’s worth the drive down to South Gippsland.
