So I'll be perfectly honest.
For maybe the last six months I've been tossing up closing the doors and focusing on other things and just doing private catering and orders at the pizza shop. Between the rising costs and prolonged staffing issues, a couple weeks ago I had pretty much decided that it's time to close and just working out exactly when. Then the other day I found out Domino's Ferntree Gully has closed down and that has now shifted my decision.
I'm always sad for businesses when they close down. But for Domino's, I'll make an exception and say f**k ya, you get what you deserve.
When Domino's first opened and did their stupid 4 dollar pizzas, there were nights when we lost half our trade because of it. We lost so much business it was hard to sustain at the time.
What they did to Pizza Hut next door was incredibly ruthless, unprofessional and poor business etiquette. Pizza Hut is a childhood favourite to a lot of us, myself included. So I was very sad when they left Ferntree Gully, which undeniably Domino's played the biggest part in.
By undercutting the rest of us, all they did was cheapen themselves, their product, the whole industry, and the customer base. Nothing good comes from ruthless business like that, and although it's taken a while for them to get to this point, poetic justice has prevailed.
So anyway, the main point of my rambling post is that for now, we've decided that we are going to stay open, however with a few changes. The decision for these changes was not taken lightly but it's time and it's necessary to make them at this point
- OFF THE MENU -
- Our kitchen will be permanently closed as of Monday the 18th. We will only be serving pizza and garlic bread moving forwards.
- We will no longer be delivering. Deliveries will be through third party apps like Uber and Menulog etc. Don't get me started on them, that's a post for another day π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬ππππ. This will take effect as of Tuesday April 2nd.
Thank you to everyone who has continually supported us.
To those customers we have lost over the years though a downfall in our service and or product, we're sorry to have lost you.
The other night I got home late from my other business doing horse transporting and whilst waiting for all the caffeine to settle πππ, I started checking out our Google reviews and was very disappointed in the direction we have been heading in recent years. This has been a major factor in the decision to close the kitchen and delivery side of the business and focus on pizza only.
We will continue to do our best in providing quality pizzas and service and hope to continually improve and firstly keep our current customers happy, and secondly have the customers we have lost return.
