💛 A HUGE FAREWELL & THANK YOU TO EDIE! 💛 Farewells are always bittersweet, but this one is particularly hard!
After 11 incredible years, tomorrow (Friday) marks Edie's last day with us — and we couldn't let it pass without giving her the send-off she deserves.
Edie joined us at The General Food Store as a barista back in 2016 and at the time confidently stated that she'd most likely be leaving in six months to move on to other things — that was over a decade ago! After serving brews to our customers at and becoming an invaluable team member there, we approached Edie in 2017 to see if she'd move to as our venue manager and help us set up before we opened our doors — we knew Edie had the expertise, experience, care, and leadership that our new venture needed. She said "yes", and we have only seen her go from strength to strength in her various leadership roles, training up countless team members across the company year after year, fine tuning our product offerings, streamlining our systems, all the while ensuring that our company values were upheld. Edie has embraced all the dynamic challenges that come with working in hospitality and was an absolute 🌟 managing a very busy Incy Wincy during lockdowns. I recall we really just had to leave Edie and team to cope while we focussed on the other two venues from going under.
On a personal note, Edie has been an incredibly reliable team member, and is someone we (Dougie & Bel) have always been able to depend upon to show up and get the job done. We've appreciated Edie's honesty and insight over the years, and we are better business owners for it. Under Edie's brilliant organised leadership we've been able to take extended breaks as a family knowing that Incy Wincy was safe in her hands. She's fed our kids countless special request foods (yes Noa was just a wee kid back when Edie began, and Harriet was still a twinkle), and always accommodated our whims and listened to our frustrations too. And to finish up, we are so grateful for your subtle and steady stepping back over the past few months, allowing the Incy Wincy team to step into your shoes seamlessly. Respect.
Edie, thank you for your dedication, your flexibility, and for trusting us with 11 years of your career. You've left your mark on our company and on all of us who've had the pleasure of working alongside you.
Edie's off to new adventures closer to home, and while we're going to miss her more than words can say, we couldn't be happier for her next chapter. And she's promised to remain on our emergency contact list to come and do some rock star shifts when needed. 💥
