This is a very difficult post for our family to write.
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our Café and Car Wash.
For many years we worked hard to build not just a business, but a welcoming place where our community could gather, enjoy a coffee or meal, and feel at home.
Like many small businesses, we worked through the challenges of COVID and did everything we could to keep going. With the support of our community we introduced new ideas, hosted themed dinner nights, and held events that brought people together. We were also proud to support local schools and host charity events raising funds for Cancer Research and other important causes.
Unfortunately, over the past two years since the shopping centre changed ownership, the centre has experienced increasing vacancies and a significant decline in foot traffic. With several shops remaining empty and no centre marketing, website or contact point for the centre, it has become increasingly difficult for small businesses to survive.
Combined with the ongoing rise in operating costs faced by small family businesses, it has sadly reached the point where continuing is no longer viable.
This closure is certainly not due to a lack of community support — the support we have received from our customers over the years has been incredible.
Over the years our café became much more than just a place to grab a coffee or a meal. It became a place where people met friends, shared stories, celebrated milestones, and supported one another. We feel incredibly proud of the welcoming space we created and the role our small family business played in bringing people together.
The hardest part of closing our doors is saying goodbye to the wonderful people who walked through them every day.
If you have any photos or special memories from your time at our café, we would love you to share them in the comments. It would mean so much to our family to look back on those moments.
To our loyal customers, friends, suppliers and the wider Elermore Vale community — thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, encouragement and support over the years.
While this chapter is closing, the friendships and connections we have made will always stay with us, and we hope our paths cross again sometime in the future so we can share another coffee and a chat.
El ‘Amore Café — where friends met, stories were shared and community grew.
