As you all know, all businesses have been closed down at Snug Cove SCMDC by order of Crown Land.
Such a sad time for us all. Lots to organise and many discussions to be had.
I’d like to thank all of the wonderful people who have been with me on my Wharfside journey.
Firstly thank you to my own family, my daughter Greta, son Tristan and husband Tom, who helped me along the way. They have been workers alongside of me and workers doing all of the work nobody sees.
Their help made it possible for me to stay so long at the Wharfside Cafe, some twenty years!
Bless them 🙏
Now to staff, some like Thelma and Kristy, have been with me to the very end. Bless them, they are more than people I employed, they are my friends, as are my dear past workers, like Farran Shepheard.
My staff felt like family to me, even the newcomers such as Laryssa, one of the dearest people I know. Laryssa never came empty handed, she is the bearer of gifts ❤️
My juniors are too numerous to mention, and to do so, I might accidentally miss their name, and that wouldn’t be right.
I thank you all, from my first St Joseph’s crew, to my most recent juniors, you were all valued and appreciated ❤️
To the dear customers who came almost every day, I thank you for your loyalty. I enjoyed your company and knew you were fond of me 🙏
To the many customers who have become very close friends, I take you all with me, and know we will catch up again and again ❤️
To the visitors who kept returning whenever they travelled this way, and they came from all over the world, and locally. I thank you for making Wharfside Cafe a place you always wanted to return to. You enriched my life.
What is sad for me is I won’t get to have the farewell I intended to have. I pictured the wharfside Cafe aglow with its colourful subtle lighting.
Tom used his extensive design knowledge, and created an atmosphere I never stopped admiring. Add this to the reflection of the lights from the fishing vessels, shimmering on the ocean at night, and it would have made, along with a band, good food and no doubt some crazy dancing to Low-Apple Bottom Jeans, a send off worthy of twenty years.
I could be bitter about what has transpired, but I go knowing that for twenty years, I’ve laughed and loved abundantly, and that at least can’t be taken from me 🙏
