La Familia Barbecue are bringing the love, the fire, and probably a few secret recipes to The Big Chill Festival! Oh, and man hugs - but who doesn't love a man hug, are we right? These absolute legends know that great BBQ is all about family - blood or chosen. Bienvenidos to the competition!

It was our second year at Romas Smokin’ Hot Easter BBQ Challenge and it did not disappoint.

It was everything you would expect from a country show/rodeo/horse race type event, plus free icecream, plus plus a BBQ competition just to top it all off.

We ended up like this;
3rd chicken
4th brisket
5th lamb
5th ribs
3rd overall

Congratulations to the big time, big hitting for the RGC and the legends at for a great GC.

We will be back.

Well that was another cracking day at BBQ Festival. 10/10 would still recommend.

For 12th overall.

Big congratulations to the D-Bar for the RGC and for a cracking GC.

We were bloody happy with that cook but sometimes that s**t just don’t translate into the good scores.

We were enticed across the ditch with promises of cute accents, Wal Frootrot type deer hunting adventures and the opportunity to cook a heap of barbecue.

What can I say? It was a hell of a week and these guys can give you tips on top tier hospitality.

NZBA Saturday.
4th ribs
6th brisket

SCA Sunday
1st place steak for Pagey (after only just being able to drag himself out of bed because he’d been proper sick for the previous three days)

We were bloody happy campers.
