Okay, here's the deal...

After everything that's unfolded over the past few weeks, the ongoing social media attacks, family health, and the need to finalise statements and other important matters, we've made the decision to continue stepping aside while we reassess every opportunity in front of us.

The overwhelming consensus within the crew is simple: right now our priority is making sure the processes that are underway are given the time and space they deserve. One thing is non-negotiable—we will not be subjecting the affected crew member to any further distress while those processes continue.

Over the coming days, a substantial amount of screenshots and other material will also be provided for legal review. We've seen people confidently claim that defamation only applies when something isn't factual. That's a discussion for the appropriate people to have. What we will say is this: much of what has been said publicly bears little resemblance to what actually occurred, and we'll allow the proper processes to deal with that rather than trying the matter on Facebook.

For the better part of two and a half years we've turned up every single day with our heads held high. What we won't accept is seeing our family or our crew become targets of ongoing online abuse.

Bossman's first responsibility has always been his family and his crew. Until the current processes have run their course—which, from our understanding, may not be far away—that remains exactly where our focus will stay.

The last four weeks have also given us something else to think about. Between the constant disruption and the overwhelming support coming from other communities, our family reunion wasn't just about catching up—it became a series of honest conversations about what the future could look like.

Please don't mistake our silence for weakness. We're simply choosing to deal with things properly.

Have no doubt about one thing: this family will be okay. Sticks & Grinds will always land on its feet. The only question we're asking ourselves now is what does the next chapter look like?

Phase 3 of the Family Reunion is officially underway! ❤️🍕

A huge thank you to the team at Townsville Pizzeria Bar & Grill for hosting what has quickly become the meeting of all meetings. Great food, fantastic service, and another reminder of why supporting local family businesses matters.

With so many family members finally back together, there’s plenty to discuss, plenty to laugh about, and a whole lot of exciting conversations about what comes next.

Thanks again for looking after us tonight—we’ll definitely be back.

Okay, here's the deal...

A few weeks ago, one of our crew members was subjected to a serious incident outside the café.
Out of respect for everyone involved, and because the matter is now with police, we won't be discussing the details publicly.

What we can say is that despite some of the stories floating around, no cash registers or chairs were harmed at any time. 😏

What we will say is this: no one has the right to intimidate, harass or antagonise our team. If that behaviour continues, it will be documented, reported and dealt with through the appropriate channels every single time.

Yesterday, those responsible found out that the intimidation stops here. They will be held to account each and every time.

Say what you will about Bossman, but one thing will never change—he will continue to take the slings and arrows for his crew.

Looking after the people who look after this café isn't negotiable.

And a special thank you to Caitlin, who stepped up yesterday and helped put a stop to behaviour that had gone on for far too long. Sometimes the right thing to do isn't the easiest thing to do, but it still has to be done.

Now it's time to get back to what matters most: serving our community, looking after each other, and moving forward.

As for this week, we'll continue operating on reduced hours while we finish off our long-awaited family reunion. And for anyone wondering... please know we aren't wrecking our brand new cash register for NOBODY. 😉

Closed Today – Back Tomorrow ☕❤️

After a massive weekend, we're taking today to recharge and spend some quality time with family we rarely get to see, especially our grandson. Those moments are pretty special, and we're making the most of every one of them.

Being Tuesday, it's traditionally our quieter day, so it made sense to hit pause for just one day before getting back into it.

We had planned to release the next instalment of From the Offices, but with a number of important family meetings happening this week, we'd rather wait until those conversations have taken place so we can share the next update properly.

So, nice and simple...

Sticks & Grinds is closed today (Tuesday), and we'll be back from 7:00am tomorrow morning, ready to fire the coffee machine back up and show the family exactly what we do best.

See you bright and early tomorrow! ☕😎

Phase One: Complete. ❤️

Sometimes the biggest step forward is simply getting everyone around the same table.

Tonight wasn’t about solving every problem or making every decision. It was about reconnecting, sharing a meal, listening to one another and starting the conversations that will help shape the next chapter for our family.

We’ve got plenty to talk about, plenty to organise, and a future that we’re excited to build together. One conversation at a time, one meal at a time, one family at a time.

Here’s to new beginnings… and to making memories that matter.

🚨 Attention Team Sticks & Grinds 🚨

We won't quite be running to schedule today.

After the mighty effort Bossman put in yesterday, he's spent the night guiding and helping navigate a car full of Team Sticks & Grinds crew who have been co-driving through the night and are now within striking distance of Townsville.

Their first request? Coffee, of course! ☕❤️

So we'll be heading into the café shortly to get the coffee machine fired up and welcome them home the only way we know how.

Bossman also hasn't seen his daughter or his grandson in three years, so we very much doubt anything will be sticking to script today. Some moments are simply bigger than the schedule.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. We'll keep you updated throughout the day as things unfold.

Looks like things have finally gone a little quiet around here, so we're going to take full advantage of it.

Boss Lady is just about ready to join the holiday makers for a few well-earned days away. It's going to be a pretty special trip, with plenty of family time, including introducing some of the family to Sticks & Grinds Café for the very first time before a family meeting that's been well over a decade in the making. There are some big conversations and important decisions ahead, and we're looking forward to seeing where it all leads.

Back here at the café, it's business as usual. Bossman will be holding the fort, and we're aiming to run as normal as possible across the weekend. We believe we've got the crew to keep everything ticking along, so there shouldn't be any major changes.

At this stage, Monday and Tuesday have been pencilled in as possible rest days while we're running extra lean, but we'll keep everyone updated if that changes.
