This will be my last Mad Snake facebook post

After the horrific attacks during election campaign I wanted to get off social media anyway
To protect me and my loved ones
Democracy is dying people

Over the long weekend i went away with family
And turned off my phone
It was so relaxing
Then when i came back everyone messaging about the lastest online attacking
Now the sad part im getting used to it,but it had upset my community yet again

We cant stop the rise of the cookers
We cant stop these fake jounos working from mums basement speading lies and hate
But we can ignore them
Im clearly an easy target
A broken veteran, business owner on city council
That did do some crazy stuff back in 1999 that tried to make our veteran community better by holding some accountable
Its almost a Les Norton book

If I voice my opinion I get attacked and complaints put in against me
If i do a positive post it triggers my haters
I not sure I have freedom of speech anymore

Im doing this for my mental health
But just as important im doing this so my loved ones and community can be at peace
When I get attacked it hurts so many people
So as I remove myself please block,delete, ignore the haters
I dont need to see the rubbish said about me and you dont need to either
Like my nan said Ignorance is bliss

Im also concerned the future of social media with our kids
The misinformation, bullying and evil that people write with no ramifacations is concerning
No real effective laws and wait for AI next
And the time I waste reading moron comments i could be in my garden healing
I dont want to be part of that anymore its not real life

I want to finish on a good note
Next week I enter my 10th year of business in Darwin
The highs the lows and the great people I now call my mates (that pics first day of opening Mad Snake)
Im still here
Still got the coolest cafe in Darwin
And still host the best vet catch up in the Territory

I bloody love Darwin and the people

I went to the Community link up event at Cas Library
Lots of groups there to help support our more vulnerable people of Darwin
Bumped into me old mate Snell
Then got taken to the Deadly vision centre bus
Meet Shaun who showed me the cool equipment on bus to help save vision or make a pair of glasses for our remote community mob
Great effort from Cas Library crew and City of Darwin staff to keep this event running for 5 years now
It is very refreshing to see the good hard work our support groups are doing
And lots of smiles

I just seen a great post about veterans attacking veterans, it weirdly refreshing knowing its not just me
I have been personally attacked for about 4 years now from my fav crusty WO1 to vets that are in the ESO space and won awards (no names)
Posts and comments about me, my cafe, my service history
What started out as jealous lies and wispers from these heros over the years have now become pages and weekly posts
These tall poppy lovers have now found a vessel to spread their lies and they are loving it
You have all seen the public online attacks Ive had for over a year now including my family members
This is all from the lips of people that once wore the same uniform as me

My cafe is my livihood
Its how i pay my mortgage, put food on my kids table and now pay for a washing machine after mine just blew up
It also is a community centre for lots of geeks, nerds and vulnerable people in community
Most importantly Mad Snake has become a safe space for our veteran community
We had 50 veterans last Fri
Find me a place that has that many under 1 roof in N.T
Every day there will be a group of veterans sitting in the cafe laughing and healing not just Fri
It has become a place for our contemporary vets as they feel outcast from other ESOs
Its a vital part of the NT vet space now
Doctors/Pych send people to cafe

What is it that these veteran attackers want ?
You want me to close my business or stop offering a safe place to our veteran community
Is my success whats makes u so angry

And more importantly all this hate and lies
Is time your taking from your loved ones
My cafe, my postitive vibes living in your head rent free is only causing pain to your family
Do better for their sake

Imagine a Darwin with no Mad Snake cafe

The official memorial, it starts at 10am Sunday at Esplanade
Few of us are meeting in cafe at 9am for coffee

3 years ago my voice started getting real coarse
after not getting it looked at ( stubborn she'll be right bogan I am )
They found a pre cancerous lump on my voicebox, that conversation my anxiety had been preparing for years, but still a shock
Today my 4th surgery confirmed my throat is finally lump free
All gone
Its big relief to me and my loved ones
The world still needs Sammy to make peeps laugh and try and help make it a better place
The downside is I promised myself, if its all good and my singing voice back
I will finally write and get ready for my 2027
