As you may or may not know, our dear friend Alex passed away during our break. It has left a void in all our lives.
Alex fought Leukaemia for 13 years and never once complained. He was nothing short of unbelievable. His wonderful nieces and nephew will, this March, be participating in the World’s Greatest Shave, and are hoping to raise as much money as possible in their uncle’s name. He would be so very proud of them, as we all are. So we want to support them by sharing this cause with you all.

Rest In Peace our beautiful Alex. We miss you terribly & can’t imagine our lives without you.

This week, we lost our amazing friend & adopted little brother Alex. He entered Carol’s life as a 12yo student & ended up working at Almond Bar once he came back from his gap year in Italy. He became our friend & part of our family.
Alex fought very hard against leukaemia for 13 years. He was the true meaning of the word fighter. Even till the very end. Not once did Alex complain about how he was feeling or what he was going through. He was truly phenomenal.
We wish we could be more like he was.
He was the kind of friend that anyone would want in their life. It is a true testament to how beautiful his family is.

We were so lucky to have had Alex in our lives. We feel so grateful that we got to spend the last few months with him, making the most of our time together.

Thank you for being in our lives Alex. You will be forever missed and always loved.

So this wall is for sale now. It breaks our heart that it won’t stay in the restaurant.
It is an original Javanese wall built in the 1940s for an internal palace wall. It’s original value was $90000. Make me a reasonable offer. Or please tag anyone or an organisation that might want to buy this. We have contacted a few places and awaiting responses.

So…I just found out that the new occupiers of the Almond Bar premises, do not want this wall. If I had the space, I would put it at my house.
It is an original Balinese wall built in the 1940s by the Dutch as an internal palace wall. It’s is amazing. It’s valued at $90000 but I’m willing to see what offers we get.
Let me know if you’re interested in purchasing either the whole wall or one of the 3 sections. Of course, the middle section would be the most expensive. The dimensions for the whole wall are 8m x 2.7m.

I don’t want this wall to go to waste so please let me know if you or anyone would be interested.

Before the lockdown, Chef Talal said his restaurant, despite being fairly new, averaged at least 40 people a day. Prior to the restaurant, Chef Talal ran a successful catering business, Syria Kitchen Australia, which he built all on his own. This lockdown is especially hard on Talal as he is not eligible for much government support due to his visa.

We asked Talal the below questions:

1. What did you know about Australia before coming here?

I knew that Australia was a safe country that guarantees freedom to its citizens.

2. If you weren't running a business, what would you be doing right now?

I would be doing literally any job, as there is nothing he hates the most than sitting at home doing nothing.

3. What's your fave food?

Grilled Fish

Our based team members can't wait to visit Damascus Restaurant as soon as the lockdown is over!
