The true story behind these smiles…
We entered these industry awards completely outside our comfort zone, up against some of WA’s best, with absolutely zero expectations.
When we were announced as finalists in three categories, Best Breakfast Restaurant, Best Café Dining and Best Tourism Restaurant, we thought, how bloody exciting! A perfect excuse to shoot down to Perth, do some furniture shopping for our new Karratha venue, get dressed up and enjoy a beautiful dinner surrounded by industry professionals.
As the night went on, our first two categories came and went. We were sitting there with rosy cheeks from the champers, rubbing shoulders with some huge names in the industry and already feeling pretty chuffed just to be in the room.
Then our little Soak Dampier logo appeared on the stage as the winner of Best Café Dining.
We nearly fell off our chairs 😂
The smiles in these photos say everything. We were genuinely shocked, ridiculously excited and so bloody proud.
Owning a business has plenty of ups and downs, and somehow you tend to feel the downs more than the ups, but this one is going to stick with us for a very long time.
To our amazing crew and every customer who has supported us over the years, none of this would be possible without you.
