Those words, spoken so eloquently by Tim Kirk of Clonakilla Clonakilla Wines capture the spirit of one of Australia's most iconic wines—and why we are delighted to welcome Clonakilla to our 28th Anniversary Winemaker's Dinner on Wednesday, 29th July.

A proud member of Australia's First Families of Wine, Clonakilla is renowned for producing some of Australia's finest cool-climate wines. On the evening, Aodhan Kirk Aodhan Kirk third-generation winemaker, will share the stories, philosophy and passion behind these remarkable wines.

The wines will be expertly paired by Master Sommelier John Clancy John Clancy whose decades of experience and deep understanding of both wine and Ajoy's cuisine promise an evening of exceptional harmony. Together, they will accompany Ajoy's Tasting Menu, inspired by the bold, aromatic flavours of Malvan and Kolhapur on India's spectacular west coast.

And what a night it was!

After almost 30 years, our first Winemaker’s Dinner at Nilgiri’s exceeded every expectation.

With exceptional Bloodwood wines, brilliant pairings by Master Sommelier John Clancy John Clancy, and our Malvani & Kolhapuri menu, it was an evening to remember.

The highlight? Hearing these words from Bloodwood co-founder Rhonda Doyle:

“My heart is overflowing. You are a dream team… All our friends had a wonderful night… There will be ripples from this event for us all.”

Dear friends,

As Nilgiri’s celebrates another milestone, Meera & I just want to say "THANK YOU"!!

To every one of you, who has walked through our doors over the years - from the early days, to the families & younger generations we now welcome - you have kept us in the game. You have filled our dining room, shared our food, brought your families, celebrated your milestones & cheered us on from the boundary. We thank you for your love & friendship!!

To our team, past and present, & our suppliers - thank you for your hard work & for standing with us over the years.

And to Meera, my opening partner - thank you for walking out to the crease with me 28 years ago & never leaving my side. Whatever Nilgiri’s has become today, we have built it together.

When we first walked out to “open the batting” for Nilgiri’s, we had no idea what kind of "test match" lay ahead. It has been a long innings under changing conditions, tricky wickets, a few ducks & plenty of testing spells.

But we have kept going. One ball, or one year, at a time. a simple mantra - "Hang in there, the runs will follow".
We are still here at the crease and grateful.
Here's to the next innings...!

Hello everyone,
Normally I would be cuddled with the dogs watching NSW Blues watching the game. However, it seems like every time I do watch the NSW Blues, the game seems to get away from us 🥲
Today, I am at work, hustling to get everything ready for our 28th Anniversary Wine Dinner with Bloodwood Wines. So as every superstitious sports fan can relate & as my neighbours will attest, hopefully a quiet Joshi household during an Origin Game will spur our men in blue to overcome the Queensland Maroons in the cauldron. Go the Mighty NSW Blues 🥰🤩😍

28 Not Out... and our celebrations are hotting up. ❤️

Our Bloodwood Wines Dinner has officially sold out, and we can't wait to welcome everyone next week. If you missed out, don't stress - our next Anniversary Dinner with Clonakilla Wines on Wednesday, 29th July is already in the works, so watch this space!

As we celebrate 28 years, we have been reflecting on just how many families & generations have grown up with us. Our own son, Aniruddh, was just 3 months old when Nilgiri's first opened its doors, and since then we have watched so many little ones discover Indian food for the very first time, often starting with our Murgh Makhani (aka our version of Butter Chicken) before becoming adventurous enough to explore the rest of our regional specialities...

So this July, we would love to welcome the next generation by offering a Butter Chicken Bonanza with sides for $30 for children aged 10 & under. And because family dinners are for everyone, Mum & Dad can also enjoy any of our amazing wines by the glass, for just $10 when dining together!

Oh... and if you're wondering whether our Butter Chicken is any good... Delicious says it's one of Sydney's best.

Nilgiri’s is proud to support & play a small part in this Fundraiser to support Aaveer & Olivia as they represent Australia at the 420 Youth & World Sailing Championships.

Our young sailors, who have "grown up" eating our Murgh Makhani aka Butter Chicken, have set up a page through the Australian Sports Foundation to help pay for their expenses. It was only natural that when we stepped in to help them achieve their goal.

We felt we could kill two birds with one stone – feeding all of you their favourite meal, whilst raising money to contribute to their fundraiser. We have a set up a “Young Aussie Fundraiser Meal” in our Takeaway Specials page. All you have to do is order for pick-up on Saturday, 30th May 2026 between 4.30 & 5.30 pm. It's that simple!!

Aaveer & Olivia will be there personally to hand over your dinner at Nilgiri’s. And feel free to order extras from our regular Takeaway Menu at the same time. And please do help us help them…

Hello everyone,

It’s my turn to hold the fort as Ajoy meanders his way through New Zealand on a wine pilgrimage 🍷

He’s clearly living the dream - meeting passionate winemakers… and, naturally, “working hard” tasting wines along the way!! At this point, who knows when he will return… Between the wines, the scenery & the hospitality, we may need to file a missing persons report soon 😄

Though I suspect that if & when he decides to come back to some actual “work”, you will soon see a number of those wines appearing on our list - each with a story attached, no doubt 😊

In the meantime, we are into the final couple of weeks of our Raj Menu, so, don’t leave it too long to visit us. And a gentle reminder that we are now open on Tuesdays as well...
