Since they removed our comment, here it is;
Just for anyone reading this since their last post about the road being open. It's not. The road was open for 2 days and is now closed again just before you reach us, meaning we are going into month 10 of not having access to our driveway, 10 months of deliveries struggling to get to us, 10 months of rubbish collection struggling to pick up.
Not to mention that the loading bays outside of Ember & Oak are taken up by multiple utes from the construction workers.
Our 'upgraded' dining area on Thompson Av is a major tripping hazard, you've completely destroyed what we had before, and replaced it with a horrendous looking space that is so far from practical for us to use. These concerns were raised before the works started, during and after.
We pay good money for our dining areas, not only have we been dealing with a major financial loss since October, but we're also going to take another financial hit if we're unable to use our dining space.
We are beyond lucky for the amount of support we received and still receive from our regular customers, friends & neighbours. However there was a time when we were told to stop complaining, we got told we were bitter and people genuinely went out of their way to unfollow us on socials when we were at our lowest. They clearly don’t understand the amount of financial stress and heartache this has caused us.
We’re beyond exhausted as a local business, it's time the council started taking accountability and looking into ways of supporting the rest of the local businesses that are about to go through it, considering they failed to do so the first time.
Phase 4 is now underway in Cowes
Works have now commenced along The Esplanade, marking the final stage of the Cowes Foreshore Precinct Project.
During this phase, construction will focus on transforming The Esplanade into a more accessible, attractive and welcoming public space for the community and visitors to enjoy.
What to expect during Phase 4 👇
• No vehicle access along this section of The Esplanade
• Pedestrian access to businesses maintained via a temporary walkway on the shopfront side of the street
• Wayfinding signage in place to help visitors easily find and access local businesses
• No pedestrian access on the beach side of The Esplanade during works
These improvements are all about creating a safer, more vibrant foreshore precinct that supports local businesses, enhances accessibility and creates an even better experience for everyone visiting Cowes.
