🍯🌿 FROM THE DAINTREE… TO THE CHURN! 🍨🫖

It doesn’t get much more local than this!

Daintree Tea is grown right here in the heart of the Daintree, where around 4,000mm of annual rainfall, tropical conditions and rich soils help create its distinctive full-bodied flavour. Grown without insecticides or fungicides, it’s a true taste of the rainforest. 🌿🫖

And where there’s tea… there are bees! 🐝

The hives located on the tea plantation produce beautiful 100% pure, raw Australian Daintree Honey — and we couldn’t resist turning some of that golden goodness into ice cream!

Our Daintree Honey Ice Cream, affectionately labelled “Angel’s Favourite,” is made right here at Daintree Floravilla using Mungalli Creek Dairy Farm organic milk and local Daintree Honey. 🍯🍨

Judging by how quickly it disappears, the angels clearly aren’t the only ones who love it! 😇😂

Pop in, enjoy a tub in our tropical garden, and taste a little piece of the Daintree.

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday = lunch days at Daintree Floravilla! 🌿🍔🍨

The fabulous Gypsy Table girls are serving up lunch from 10am to 2pm, and the compliments just keep rolling in. Delicious, fresh food enjoyed in our beautiful tropical garden—what more could you ask for?

And if you need proof… just take a look at today’s chicken burger! 😋🍔 Judging by the size of that bite, we think it passed the taste test with flying colours! 😂

So if you’re heading our way, drop in for an amazing lunch, relax in the garden and, of course, save room for a Floravilla organic ice cream… if you can! 🍨🌴

🎨🦜 Another day, another layer… and the Golden-shouldered Parrot is really taking shape!

Betty has been busy in her open studio at Daintree Floravilla Ice Creamery & Art Gallery, adding more detail and texture to this very special painting. The old termite mound is now emerging beneath the parrot, adding another important part of the story of this endangered Cape York bird.

Today Betty also enjoyed a visit from Scot McPhie from Bird Bites, who stopped by to admire the painting’s progress and, of course, enjoy a chat with Betty in the studio. There’s nothing quite like a good bird conversation over paintbrushes and a cuppa! ☕🖌️😊

Still a work in progress, with plenty more to come… but we think this beautiful bird is already looking rather magnificent!

🌧️🍨 RAIN, RAIN… KEEP IT COMING! 🌿😂

After all, how else are we supposed to make a Tropical RAINFOREST? 🌧️🌴

It might be a little wet today, but that certainly hasn’t stopped plenty of clever people from finding their way to Daintree Floravilla Ice Creamery. Priorities, people… rainforest first, ice cream immediately after! 😂🍨

The churns have been busy today making:

🍋🥭 Lemon Mango Sorbet — fresh, fruity and zingy enough to wake up your tastebuds!

🌿 Soursop Sorbet — deliciously tropical and a little different… just like the Daintree!

🥭🥥 Mango Coconut — because putting two tropical favourites together is simply good decision-making! 😋

So grab the umbrella, dodge the puddles and come enjoy an organic ice cream in our beautiful rainforest garden. 🌧️🌿🍨

Wet weather, happy rainforest, delicious ice cream… everybody wins! 😂

A busy day in paradise! 🍦🌿

The churns were hard at work this morning creating three delicious favourites – Coffee Cream ☕, Passionfruit 💛 and Spices of Life 🌿. Freshly made and ready to enjoy!

Afterwards, it was time for a wander through the gardens. Butterflies danced between the bromeliads, colourful blooms put on a spectacular show, and every corner revealed another little rainforest treasure.

Then… we met one of our quieter locals. 🐍

“Righto mate… you can have right of way today!” 😄 Our resident Red-bellied Black Snake was taking a leisurely stroll well away from the main garden. We like to think he’s on generator security duty, making sure everything is running smoothly. Thanks for your service, mate! 😉🌿

Every walk around the gardens is different… you never know what wonderful surprises the Daintree has waiting.

🍦 The churns have certainly earned a rest today! 🍦

It has been another busy day at Daintree Floravilla Ice Creamery, with our ever-popular Daintree Honey 🍯, vibrant Dragon Fruit 🩷 and rich, indulgent Double Chocolate 🍫 keeping the ice cream churns spinning all morning.

There’s nothing quite like creating small-batch organic ice cream using beautiful local ingredients and dairy products from Mungalli Creek Dairy , and seeing so many smiling faces enjoying every spoonful.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who called in today to relax in our tropical gardens, savour an ice cream, and spend time exploring Betty Hinton’s gallery. Very much appreciate all that recommend visitors to call in. 💝 It has been especially lovely to see so many visitors captivated by Betty as she continues work on her stunning Golden-shouldered Parrot painting. We never tire of seeing the excitement when people stop for a chat and ask if they can take a photograph of her painting in the open studio.

Thank you for making Floravilla part of your Daintree adventure. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon… there are always more flavours to discover and another brushstroke to admire! 🌿🎨🍨

A little more colour, a little more detail… and the Golden-shouldered Parrot is really beginning to shine.

Betty has been busy in the open studio today, carefully building each feather, one delicate brushstroke at a time. The vibrant turquoise, brilliant golden shoulder and rich chestnut /red underparts are now emerging, bringing this remarkable Cape York bird to life.

Every painting is a journey of patience, observation and passion for Australia’s unique wildlife. It’s always exciting to watch another piece evolve from pencil sketch to finished watercolour.
