THE LEGEND OF MOUNT COOLUM ⛰

According to local Aboriginal legend, Mount Coolum lost its head when it was knocked off by Mount Ninderry during a fight over a woman named Maroochy. Coolum's head fell into the ocean and became Mudjimba Island, while his body became Mount Coolum.

And there you have it! If you frequent this legendary mountain, come and visit us afterwards for a healthy beverage or a sweet treat.... go on, you earned it 😉

Dolly isn’t just a local celebrity, she’s an Australian fur seal, a species known for making surprise stopovers along the Sunshine Coast!

These seals can travel huge distances, rest on rocky outcrops, and often return to the same spots seasonally. They’re powerful swimmers, can dive over 200 metres, and spend most of their time hunting fish and squid offshore.

Seeing Dolly on the Coolum rocks was a reminder of how wild and connected our coastline really is. If she pops back again, remember: give her plenty of space, keep dogs away, and let this incredible marine mammal enjoy her well‑earned sunbaking session.
