Yesterday was wedding day at Whipbird 🤍

Which means the morning was spent pottering around, watering, sweeping, moving things and getting all the little corners ready.

There’s something very lovely about watching the place slowly come together before everyone arrives.

There’s something lovely about a table that feels lived in.

We’ve collected our old wooden tables over the years from friends, family and relatives. They’re all a little different, and you can see the marks left behind from the lives they lived before they came to us. They’re really special pieces, and we love collecting them.

Now, each one has a little pot of flowers in the middle, with plates of good food arriving, glasses being filled, and families and friends gathering around them.

They’ve seen a lot of long lunches, celebrations and conversations over the years — and there are plenty more to come.

This weekend is looking beautifully busy, with a wedding and Father’s Day ahead. We can’t wait to see the restaurant full and welcome so many of you through the doors. ❤️

For years, Devon’s been trying to grow all the garlic we use at Whipbird.

Every year the patch gets a little bigger, and this year he reckons we might finally be pretty damn close.

There’s something very satisfying about watching the things we use every day in the kitchen growing just down the hill. 🧄

Now we wait for harvest.

The Dutch creams are ready.

Devon’s been harvesting heaps of potatoes from our farm this week, ready to make their way into the Whipbird kitchen.

Grown by us, dug up by us — and very soon, you’ll see them on your plate.

It all starts with a seed.

A tiny seed, chosen by our chefs, planted here on the farm and cared for until there’s finally something beautiful ready to harvest.

Then it makes its way into the Whipbird kitchen, where somehow those handfuls of leaves, herbs and vegetables are transformed into something completely new.

And eventually, it arrives on your table.

From one tiny seed to your plate. We think there’s something pretty special about that.

Imagine your wedding day at Whipbird.

A ceremony beside our little country church, beneath the eucalyptus trees. A rustic timber arbour dressed with locally grown flowers, surrounded by the people you love most.

After the ceremony, everyone wanders around the back as the sun begins to soften through the trees. Drinks are poured, fire-inspired nibbles and charcuterie are shared, and our chefs cook over the open fire while your guests mingle nearby.

As dusk settles over the dirt roads and natural surrounds, the festoon lights begin to glow. Then everyone gathers inside around long tables filled with flowers, beautiful food and all the warmth of a Whipbird evening.

Later, it’s back outside for dancing beneath the lights, the eucalyptus trees and the bougainvillea.

Our weddings are relaxed, intimate and deeply welcoming—with beautiful food and warm country hospitality at the heart of the day.

And we take care of the details for you. From locally grown flowers and table styling to place cards and seating charts, we bring everything together so you can be present and enjoy it.

Choose to celebrate your reception with us, or add your ceremony at the church and experience the whole day at Whipbird.

If this feels like the wedding you’ve been imagining, send us a message. We’d love to show you what your day at Whipbird could be.

A little weekend update from Whipbird.

We have tables available for dinner tonight, while Saturday is looking quite full and a few tables remain across Sunday.

We’re also coming into a busy wedding season, with several beautiful celebrations and larger functions on the calendar. Next Friday, the restaurant will be closed to regular bookings while we host a wedding.

We’re incredibly grateful to be part of these special occasions—and equally grateful to everyone choosing to spend their weekends with us. With a busy few weeks ahead, we recommend booking in advance if you’re planning a visit.

We’re at Whipbird now, preparing the dining room, restocking the store and getting everything ready for the weekend. If you feel like joining us for dinner tonight, we’d love to have you.
