Mother’s Day

Gentle, warm light

At CIBI, we’ve always loved the presence of the
Isamu Noguchi Akari Light Sculpture.

Originally designed in the 1950s,
and still handcrafted today in Gifu by the Ozeki Lantern Company.

Made from washi paper and bamboo,
lit by gently pulling a simple cord —
a delicate, minimal structure that holds a soft, warm glow.

Its organic form settles naturally into any space,
bringing a quiet sense of comfort and calm.

A design that gently enriches everyday life —
light to live with, every day😌✨

The 1A model is classic, poetic, sculptural, and minimalist table lamp that blends Japanese tradition with modern design. Designed in 1951, it is a handcrafted, egg-shaped paper lantern that serves as a piece of art even when turned off.

Sunday Breakfast with CIBI ✨

We’re open throughout the Easter holiday.

Come and enjoy a wholesome breakfast at CIBI — a moment to slow down, catch up with friends and family, and take your time exploring the Design Store.

Our Japanese Breakfast is based on Meg’s grandmother’s breakfast, and has been part of CIBI since 2008. Simple, nourishing, and made with care, it’s a breakfast that feels like home.

The tools we use every day to prepare this breakfast — the kind of tools Meg’s grandmother also used — are part of our Japanese Kitchen Tools Exhibition, ending today in the centre of the Design Store.

We look forward to welcoming you — to enjoy many little moments across food, design, and space.

What a joyful evening on Wednesday at the Book Dinner Club, hosted by ✨

It was really lovely to share the story behind our upcoming CIBI cookbook 「OSOZAI ~ everyday Japanese home cooking」, and to serve a few of our favourite dishes for everyone to taste☺️

We also loved watching .toohey ‘s charcoal cooking — such a delicious and generous experience.

Congratulations to & on the launch of Book Dinner Club. We’re so excited to have been part of your very first evening.

It’s been wonderful sharing these tools with you at the CIBI Design Store — pieces thoughtfully made, each with a clear purpose, designed for specific dishes and to be used, lived with, and enjoyed every day.

We hope you’ve found something you’d love to use in your kitchen, and perhaps already welcomed it into your everyday.

CIBI Sprinkles — Mother’s Day✨💙

The Butterfly Stool by Sori Yanagi was designed in 1956. It’s simply beautiful.

Reminiscent of a ribbon, a butterfly, or a flower, its form shifts depending on how you see it.

Light and easy to move, it finds its place naturally — in an entrance hallway, beside a sofa, or in a quiet corner.

Made by Tendo Mokko, each piece is shaped through layers of wood, carefully formed and finished by hand.
