So why Nells’?

Our cafe is named after my (Kim’s) Nana, Nelly. She was a very special person for me and my family, and someone who lived in the district for 13 years.

Nana and Pop moved to Jancourt East in 1963 as one of the original Settlement Farmers and they retired to Geelong in 1976, but was back at the farm and in Cobden often to see John, Marg, Simon and Adam.

When thinking of a name that was important to us, Nell was the only option.

Nelly loved a cup of tea and a salada biscuit with Vegemite and a chat with family and friends. We hope you and your friends will join us at Nells when you catch up your family and friends for coffee or tea, but instead of a salada biscuit, we can offer you some great cakes and other treats

We are incredibly excited to be launching Nells Cafe in Cobden, taking over The blue wren clothing and homewares and the amazing work of Steffi and the team. Many things and some of the people will be the same, and there will be some exciting changes that we will make over the coming weeks and months.

We are Kim and Adam, and are actually first cousins of Simon and Steffi. Although we are moving from Geelong, it’s like we are moving back home. I was actually born in Timboon and lived in Simpson a few years before my family moved to Geelong.

Moving back to the western district and opening Nell’s Cafe is an exciting adventure for us and we can’t wait. We are opening in the coming weeks, We have a few things to do first. We can’t wait to see you and get to know you and our new community.

Please follow us, and watch out for information
