Shakshuka : it's slightly spicy and full of flavour from roasted tomatoes and capsicums with a bright herb sauce, runny egg & sourdough toast to soak it all up.

We are really looking forward to being part of the Clare Sustainability Festival!

We'll be pouring coffees, serving cakes and ladling out hot soup in a collection of rescued mugs gathered by the Sustainability Festival committee.

This new festival is one of our favourite local events because it focuses on practical, everyday ways to care for our environment, support our community and make thoughtful choices that add up over time. It's about sharing ideas, learning from each other and celebrating the ways we already make a difference.

The inaugural Clare Sustainability Festival will include speakers, information booths, market stalls, and workshops June 20th - in the Clare Town Hall and Ennis Park.

This is a free entry event.

A few new winter favourites have found their way onto the menu at Cafe 1871.

The 1871 English muffins are back! Filled with pumpkin chutney, fried egg and cheese, with your choice of bacon, chorizo or haloumi.

Healthy macadamia & apple pancakes, packed with cranberries, chia, macadamia and coconut milk, then topped with stewed and fresh fruit, candied peanuts, pepitas and honey. They're gluten & dairy free too.

Our lunch special shakshuka is full of spicy tomato and capsicum sauce with a runny egg and sourdough toast.

And if the weather's got a bite to it, warm your hands around a toastie and a bowl of chunky Italian lentil soup.

Nothing too fancy — just good winter food made with care.

We’ve been making a Persian lamb stew for the new lunch menu and it’s exactly the kind of meal you want on a cold day — tender lamb, spiced split peas, autumn vegetables, preserved lemon and herbs over soft polenta with orange and cranberries.

Rich and comforting! Best enjoyed with a hot coffee and nowhere to be.
