Friday's Feel Good Story is about a couple of Osteria regulars Lisa and Chris. đź’™

Lisa & Chris have lived in the neighbour hood for 6 months now and have come in everyday since. They have continued to support us during this time by still purchasing their essentials and daily takeaway coffee with us. Chris has also kindly provided his plumbing services for as little as a loaf of bread!

We are beyond grateful for their generosity and kindness and are pleased to have such a great relationship with them and the rest of our community.

Today's Feel Good Story is about Hannah // Store manager at Pastry Bread Espresso.đź’™

A few days ago our store manager at Pastry Bread Espresso was humbled by some great feedback from the Aldi team next door. They gave her a voucher for being so positive and helpful throughout the crisis. It was more than just a compliment, it was heartfelt and sincere, and if you know Hannah, you would know that tears were imminent! Han cries at the sight of anything to do with human goodness!

Hannah was very grateful and even though she has taken a significant pay cut to align with our entire team that is now on $750 per week, and she has 3 kids too, instead of taking the voucher, she paid it forward. It ended up in the hands of team members that are also outside of the support program. It was a small gesture with a big impact for those it effected and it again demonstrates what is so good about the amazing people that work in the PLB Group!

We are not able to meet everyone’s needs that is for sure, but we are truly trying and doing what we can to facilitate moves like these to help in as many ways as possible! Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need help!!

Today's feel good story is about Pauline and Annie đź’™

Pauline is someone we have known for years and lives in the complex adjoining the Greenspace precinct that houses Osteria and Lolita’s restaurants plus the Osteria Weddings venue. Pauline comes in for her daily ritual of a latte and to read the paper with her dog and knows us all very well. One of those customers that only ever says nice things to the staff and comes rain hail or shine.

After seeing the venue close with so much work to be done at the site, and with PLB having no funds to support this type of work as we direct it to more critical areas, Pauline has now become our resident gardener helping out Annie who also looks after the wider property. These girls are working for a coffee a day and a few bits and pieces that we have left on the shelves before they go to shelters and those in need.

Out of kindness and generosity, we now have a large amount of work being achieved and our 1000 plants are flourishing! It is important to note that we had installed 1000 new plants within the new Lolita’s Restaurant space, and we also have just over 1 acre of gardens and plants it is no small feat!

Today's Feel Good Story đź’™

After an absolutely crazy few weeks and so many ups and downs, crisis talks, devastation for our team, and facing the hard reality that all of our hard work amounting to bu**er all, yesterday on April Fool’s Day, our littlest girl Margot turned 2.

It was so good to let everything go and just enjoy the moment like a 2 year old would! To be honest, not being able to have anyone around even contributed to making it one of the most unique and special birthdays ever! Appreciating those closest to you, and doing it in the simplest of ways, is very, very rewarding and humbling!

For a good moment, it was a world of no Covid Crisis at all! Happy 2nd birthday Margot Wilson!!

Today’s feel good story is about our Australian government and our newest addition PLB at Home.

This week the government offered wage support for our team so we are now in a position to be able to re-employ more staff. We will be able to have over 62 people back on our books within the next two weeks as a result of this scheme. It is exciting to be able to give security to so many people but we are also conscious that there are still many more that have no support yet. For now we see this is a massive win but our focus remains with getting as many people back into work as possible.

Yesterday we launched our PLB at home website delivering essentials and other goods to people’s homes and we had eight orders on our first day which is also really great news and has provided another job in delivering. As well as strengthening the jobs for the bakers as we have sold lots of bread along with other things.

We are very glad to be sharing some positive stories in amongst all of the pressure that everyone faces at this time. đź’™

PLB Group's Feel Good Stories // Today's story is about all of the Brides & Grooms to be who have been nothing short of AMAZING with our team during this time.đź’Ť

Our events team have been flat out with emails and calls from couples who have had to cancel and/or reschedule their special day due to new COVID-19 gathering regulations. Although these regulations have greatly impacted our couples we want to thank them for their kind words and patience.

Here are a few messages from our wonderful couples.
Gabrielle: Thank you again so much for being so helpful through this time. You guys have made the whole process so much easier.
Amelia: Thanks so much for your help. We are so grateful that you all have made this such an easy process in this hard time.
Grace: Thank you so much for allowing us to reschedule our wedding! You have all been amazing throughout this process and I really want to commend you on that. It’s not an easy job by all means but you have made it seem so flawless. So thank you!
Emma & Tim: Thank you for all your help, crazy and unprecedented times! You guys have been amazing in helping us to postpone our big day.

Today’s Feel Good Story Is about two members of our local emergency services crew, Chad (Police) & Mark (Ambulance).

Chad and Mark took it upon themselves to ask their departments to support Baked at Ancora during this time as we have supported them. Only one emergency person asked for a discount today and I think that’s super rad!

We are so stoked to be a part of such an amazing community 🙏🏻💙

Today's PLB Group Feel Good Story is about Taverna's head chef Caio👨‍🍳

Caio, is our Head Chef at Taverna (now closed), pulled the me aside at the group wide meeting where we were standing down 130 staff, and said “I will work at the dish hand rate of $21/hr” he also said “I will do whatever it takes!” This guy has always worked like 2 men, and now he works at half rate of one man! You can’t help but tear up when your team will do this for you.

PLB Group is not walls and buildings, food or service, it is people like Caio and the rest of the legends at PLB Group that make this company. Humans, good people, hard-working people, just like the other memebrs of the community, and we will survive because of them and for them!

Today’s story is about Keely, our one man (woman) marketing team.👩🏻‍💻

She has offered to work for free throughout this time as she has a stable home and limited outgoings. We need marketing more than ever right now! We even suggested that she should secure work for her own good, but her answer was a STRONG NO! How humbling can it be!
