Hi there, it’s Jess here ❤️
I don’t usually post these kind of things, but today I really feel like posting this. Over the weekend we lost a customer that I have known since I’ve been in Castle Mall since 2003.
This picture I’m Posting is of John and Carol, a couple that my family, myself and my coworkers have adored since the day we met them. Carol passed away a couple of years ago and John her beautiful, kind and funny husband passed away over the weekend. I can’t emphasise how much this couple meant to us. They would come to the cafe every single day sometimes and they were like family. I didn’t have the privilege like most to grow up with loving grandparents because I lost them at a very young age 🙏🏻❤️ but these two beautiful souls took me in like one of their own. Every birthday and every Christmas I would receive cards and gifts and special visits from them because they never forgot me.
Me and John shared our birthdays in the same week so we both never forgot each other. And we both loved Parramatta so of course we had our weekly chats about Parra (well me mainly complaining about them). My best memories of John is when he used to go to the bank and leave Carol at the cafe with us, and he would wander off for about two hours and leave her sitting there stressed while he was off cruising 😂😂😂
So today I’m writing this post for John. I loved that man. He was so funny! And kind. And generous! He loved his family more than anything. He was so loyal to the cafe for the entire time that I had known them which was over 20 years!
Almost every week, I get customers that come up to me and tell me that their loved ones have passed away and each time it hurts a little more. It’s because I’ve been fortunate enough to be blessed with a customer base that’s mainly oldies which I love so much.
Rest in peace to both of them. I really hope they’re having a nice cup of coffee and a half grill together!
I asked their daughters if I can share something on the cafe page today and they said of course.
I don’t usually do this kind of thing but I really wanted to share how blessed I was to know this couple.
RIP John! Your cheekiness will be missed kind sir ❤️ GO PARRA 💛💙
