CHOOSE WHAT MATTERS Life doesn’t always go to plan.

Sometimes the wedding you thought you’d have in a year or two suddenly needs to happen sooner.

Maybe there’s a baby on the way.

Family might be visiting from overseas.

Circumstances might have changed.

One thing our first Lakeview couples are teaching me is that a shorter lead time doesn’t make a wedding less meaningful.

Sometimes it strips away some of the noise — the enormous guest list, endless decisions and all the things you thought you should have.

And leaves you with the important bit.

The two of you getting married, with the people you most want beside you.

Life doesn’t always go to plan.

Sometimes you simply choose what matters — and get married. ❤️

FOOD & W**E FRIDAY 🍷

Well… this time next week, Orange W**e Festival will be underway.

And thanks to a little reshuffling by one of our booked groups, we still have one W**e Festival Weekend Escape available for two people.

Two nights in Nature’s Haven at Lakeview.
Friday Night Markets.
Brangayne W**e & Garden.
Cargo Road × Antica Australis dinner.
Sunday’s Trees & Vines experience.

And Country Food Trails taking care of the driving.

Great food. Cool-climate w**e. No driving. No rushing.

Nature’s Haven is our private one-bedroom villa, with views towards Lake Canobolas, a king bed, big bath and gas log fire - a pretty lovely place to come home to after enjoying some of the Festival events around Orange.

LAKEVIEW MOMENTS 🦎🌸

Spring is well on the way at Lakeview.

Our little blue tongue has been making regular appearances, the garden seems to have something new flowering every few days, and the Highland cows are enjoying the warmer weather.

And then there was one slightly bigger Lakeview moment this week… our very first wedding. ❤️

It’s been one of those weeks where there seems to be something happening everywhere you look.

Sometimes a kangaroo.
Sometimes a blue tongue.
Sometimes a bride and groom. 😂

CHOOSE WHAT MATTERS 🤍

Our first wedding taught me something.

Sixteen people didn't make Saturday's wedding feel small.

It made every person there feel important.

There was time to talk.
Time for photographs.
Time to sit around one table and eat together.
Time for the couple to actually be with the people they'd invited.

Nobody was trying to say hello to 100 people before the night disappeared.

And it made me realise that perhaps the question isn't:

“How many people should we invite?”

Maybe it's:

“Who do we really want beside us when we get married?”

That's Choose What Matters in its purest form.

LAKEVIEW MOMENTS 🦎🌸

It’s not just the flowers enjoying the warmer spring days at Lakeview.

This gorgeous blue tongue lizard has made a couple of appearances near one of the villas lately — obviously rather happy that spring has arrived too.

When I mentioned him to our guests arriving today, they were delighted at the thought that they might get to see him during their stay.

Meanwhile, the gardens just keep getting prettier, with more colour appearing every week — including these beautiful proteas.

One of the lovely things about staying somewhere surrounded by bushland and farmland is that you never quite know who might wander past.

Sometimes it’s a kangaroo.
Sometimes it’s a Highland cow.
And sometimes it’s a blue tongue. 🦎

Well… this wasn't what we expected!

We thought our one-bedroom W**e Festival packages were sold out.

But a little reshuffling by one of our booked groups means Nature's Haven has unexpectedly become available for the Orange W**e Festival weekend.

So if you loved the sound of our W**e Festival Weekend Escape but didn't need the two-bedroom villa, there's now one package available for two people.
