Here's a fun little Sunday tea fact to start your morning.

For centuries, tea was more than a beverage—it was a trusted form of currency across parts of China, Tibet, Mongolia, and Central Asia.

Rather than being traded as loose leaves, tea was compressed into sturdy blocks known as tea bricks, making it easier to transport, store, and exchange. Some were even stamped with official seals, reflecting the confidence people placed in their value.

What's cool is how long the practice endured. In some parts of Siberia, tea bricks continued to be used for wages and everyday purchases well into the World War II era.

Well in a nut shell, our journey began in 2002, when we opened a coffee roastery and café. While we were committed to serving exceptional coffee, we also wanted to offer something more — a truly beautiful cup of tea. We wanted to focus on high‑quality loose‑leaf tea that honoured tradition, flavour, and craftsmanship.

What started off with a modest selection of 5–6 varieties, which quickly grew into a world of discovery. We became captivated by the incredible diversity of teas and tisanes available.

Tea had become more than a menu item — it had become our passion!

In 2015, we sold the coffee side of the business to dedicate ourselves entirely to tea. This shift allowed us to pour our energy into what we loved most: sourcing, blending, and sharing exceptional teas.

And here we are, we hope you enjoy our tea as much as we do!

Here's a fun little Tea fact to put in the old memory bank for future use should you require it.

How much caffeine is in tea?

Black and oolong tea may contain around 50mg of caffeine. Green tea usually contains 30 to 50mg, and white tea around 20mg. However, water temperatures and steeping times can can alter the caffeine content.

The hotter the water used to make a cup of tea and the longer it takes to steep, the higher its caffeine content with generally be. So, black tea, which steeps the longest at the highest temperature, generally contains more caffeine than green or white tea.
