Hi peeps, Alex here: the cafe formerly known as Stand By Me will be reopening at 630am on Monday as La Veera. Your new host Navi has been working hard to give the place a freshen up and it's looking good. The menu is a bit more mainstream, but still with good options for vegans and vegetarians. I will be around for the first few days to bed things down, so please drop in and say hi!

It's with a fair bit of sadness that I announce Stand By Me has been sold and will close on 21 December. A new cafe will be opening in mid-January 2026. It's been a privilege to serve the people of Lyons and surrounds over the last 18 months. I'm proud of the standard of vegetarian food, coffee and customer service the team put up. We tried very hard to make the café financially sustainable but ultimately didn't succeed at that. The new owner plans to open 7 days a week with a broader menu, and I hope you give him your support. In the meantime, please come and eat your fill of Ful Medames, Okonamyaki and Zucchini Fritters before next Sunday!

This week at Stand By Me we are looksmaxxing the popular Big Vegan Breakfast and Big Breakfast with the addition of our awesome homemade potato rosti! And don't forget the delicious Katsu Curry, Vegan Fisherman's Basket and Rosti with Roast Veg and Gravy are all on the specials menu until 21 December.
