Hello friends! It’s been a while between chats! Hope you are all well!! I have to say after having grown up in the shop, eating Mee Sing food for like a million years, hanging around Lyneham, it still feels weird not being there.
Plus there’s the food. You know the black bean sauce we used to make was actually made the old way, the same recipe that Dad made since 1965. He’d get the fermented black beans, soak them, then cook them with ginger, garlic, water, pepper, light and dark soy sauce . Once that was bubbling away he’d put in a a big stainless steel bowl and steam it for about an hour.
That was our black bean sauce.
I’ve been looking for similar since we closed. I’ve resorted to making my own now!!
On another sentimental note, our very dear Eddie and local artist has been updating our wall and most importantly his mural of Sharon.
We are so very grateful for his friendship and continued loyalty and friendship to Sharon. He keeps her memory alive at a place where we spent so much time and where she made so many friends.
I go there sometimes, when the moon is full and bright and look at her. She glows in the moonlight. Thank you Eddie for making our angel shine.❤️
