Contrary to fake news, the restaurant is open, trading three nights a week (Thur-Sat). serving delicious traditional Polish food and beverages with old world charm. Discover sumptuous traditional Polish dishes at the ‘Polo’ situated in one of the original European Clubs established 50 years ago in Canberra, Australia’s national capital. aurant) has remained faithful to its Polish roots and multicultural ideals. Sure there have been changes – perhaps the biggest was ditching poker machines – a move welcomed by many members and restaurant customers. The ‘Polo’ version of the restaurant was born out of the fire that destroyed the Club’s kitchen in 2013. In rebuilding, every effort was made to retain the features originally designed by renowned architect Enrico Taglietti. Enjoy dining in the Bar, Chopin Room, or Library – each with its individual feel and style. Treat yourself to pierogi (meat, cabbage & mushroom, cheese & potato dumplings), a delicious cabbage roll, or a hearty serve of hunter’ stew (Poland’s national dish). Pączki (a jam-filled Polish doughnut pronounced Ponchki) satisfies those with a sweet tooth. The bar has the best selection of eastern and central European beers and ales, including Poland’s famous Żywiec pale lager. The range of vodka is amazing (try Zubrowka with apple juice), and the wine list isn’t bad either. Don’t be alarmed if you hear the occasional shout of ‘Na Zdrowie’ (Cheers) or ‘Sto Lat’ (may you live to 100 years) – its a part of Polish culture. SO WITAMY – WELCOME – NA ZDROWIE – STO LAT
