🍊 Aperitivo!! Italy’s favourite hour
In Italy, the early evening has its own ritual. Between about 6pm and 8pm, people meet friends at a bar or piazza for a drink and something small to eat before dinner.
It might be an Aperol or Campari spritz, a glass of prosecco, or a crisp local white. It always comes with a little food: olives, chips, bruschetta, cheese, salumi, and in some towns a whole spread of bites.
It’s about slowing down, catching up and opening the appetite (that’s where the name comes from, from the Latin aperire, “to open”)
