The main reason is the weather: in Munich, where Oktoberfest began, September is much warmer and drier than October.
At the German Club, we celebrate Oktoberfest in October because Cairns enjoys wonderful weather then. 😎

Oktoberfest began in Munich on 12 October 1810 as a royal wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The festivities included a horse race and lasted five days.

In the beer tents at the Oktoberfest, the principle still applies today: the customer is king! 👑🍺
