Don’t get caught out paying for cheaper imported fish when you think is Australian Seafood. Take the time to check.

🚨 Just 1 week to go until Country of Origin Labelling for seafood becomes mandatory in food service. 🐟 🍤 🐙

From 1 July 2026, food service businesses serving seafood must clearly indicate the country of origin of the seafood they sell.

Whether it’s on menus, display boards, online ordering platforms or signage, customers need to be able to see where their seafood comes from before they make a purchase.

If you haven’t made the necessary updates yet, now is the time. The transition period ends on 30 June, and compliance requirements commence from 1 July.

These symbols will be law!

Support Australian Seafood

There’s 1 month to go until new seafood labelling laws come into force.

From 1 July 2026, hospitality businesses must label the country of origin of seafood served for immediate consumption.

Menus must clearly show whether seafood is:
- Australian (A)
- Imported (I)
- Mixed origin (M).

The changes are part of Australian Consumer Law and apply to restaurants, cafés, pubs, takeaways and other hospitality settings.
