After what we can only assume was an unplanned extended holiday somewhere between Greece and Pumicestone…

HALLOUMI IS BACK.
Apparently our halloumi got lost at sea.
Possibly sightseeing.
Possibly refusing to board the boat.

But she's finally made it.

Which means our Halloumi Burgers are BACK ON THE MENU!

Two glorious pieces of halloumi, red onion, tomato, beetroot, lettuce, mayo & sweet chilli all stacked into one seriously good burger.

No meat.

Still an absolute unit.

Alright, let’s start a completely unnecessary argument

What’s a takeaway habit that instantly makes you judge someone?

We’ll go first:
🚩 Says they “don’t want chips” then steals half of yours

🚩 Orders chips with NO salt

🚩 Orders a burger with no sauce

🚩 Says “just one more thing” after the order has already been sent through

🚩 Eats half the chips in the car then claims the shop didn’t give enough

🚩 Gets home and realises they forgot to grab the drinks they literally paid for.

🚩 “Can I just change something on that order?” …after the kitchen has already started making it.

And yes, we are judging the no salt people just a little bit.

We are creeping up on 4,000 followers and considering Pumicestone Bites has only been open for ONE MONTH.. that honestly blows our minds.

One month of absolute chaos.
One month of learning.
One month of getting absolutely SMASHED.

BIG BREAKY, ANYONE?

This morning we pumped out a stack of these BIG breakfast packs for the boys to take away.. and now we’re thinking we may have created a problem.

This bad boy isn’t actually on our menu.. yet. 😏

2 Bacon, 2 eggs, grilled tomato, mushrooms, caramelised onion and toast - basically everything you need to undo the questionable decisions you made the night before.

So Pumicestone.. do we add it?!

Because if enough of you say yes, we might just have to make some room on the menu. 👀🔥

Hope received these beautiful flowers today from one of our customers, along with the sweetest little note and we think that deserves some recognition of its own.

Since joining our team, Hope has shown such humility, dedication and willingness to learn. She’s not only committed to doing a great job within the store, but constantly looks for ways to improve, learn something new and help wherever she can.

Most importantly, she goes out of her way to make our customers feel welcomed, valued and looked afterand clearly, that kindness hasn’t gone unnoticed.

It’s one thing for us as owners to see the effort our staff put in, but when a customer takes the time to do something this thoughtful, it really shows the impact those little interactions can have.

Well done, Hope. You should be incredibly proud of yourself.

Okayyyy, mystery solved!

Turns out these are dark kitchens operating out of Stella Rossa so they are legitimate, and not fake/scam businesses as we first thought.

Apparently, somehow, we share the exact same address on Uber Eats which is why their drivers have been wandering into Pumicestone Bites looking for orders we definitely didn’t cook

So from now on, if an Uber driver comes in looking for one of these businesses, we’ll happily point them in the direction of Stella Rossa to collect your food.

Apologies for the confusion, but when random drivers keep walking into your shop asking for completely different restaurants, you can probably understand why we were a little concerned. 😂

Case closed. No underground schnitty syndicate operating from Pumicestone Bites after all.

WE ARE SO DAMN THANKFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

It has officially been just 27 DAYS since we opened the doors to Pumicestone Bites.. and apparently Caboolture was HUNGRY.

In just 27 days, we’ve powered through:

1,670 individual serves of chips
1,409 individual pieces of fish
1,154 burgers
1,028 Fish & Chip Packs
1,949 potato scallops

And those chip numbers are individual serves only, not all the chips included inside those 1,028 packs. 😳

That is an absolutely ridiculous amount of food coming out of our little kitchen in less than a month!

We knew opening a second store would be a wild ride. We’ve changed systems, moved things around approximately 748 times 😂, trained an incredible new team, made mistakes, learnt HEAPS and continued getting faster and stronger every week.

But none of it happens without you guys walking through our doors.

Whether you’ve visited once, become a regular already, shared one of our posts, commented on something (yes, even the sh*tty ones), recommended us to a mate, left us a review or simply given our crew a smile while they’re getting absolutely flogged during a service period - THANK YOU. ❤️

A LITTLE FISH & CHIP EDUCATION… because not all fish are the same size!

We keep seeing comparisons made between our $13.50 COD and cheaper COD sold elsewhere.

But here’s the bit people often miss…

So let’s actually do the maths.

Using the average size of each grade:

4–6oz Hake: average 5oz
$10.50 ÷ 5 = $2.10 per oz

6–8oz Hake: average 7oz
$13.50 ÷ 7 = $1.93 per oz

So customers are getting roughly 40% more fish, while only paying 28.6% more.

This isn’t a price justification post. It’s simply a little education about comparing takeaway prices properly.

So before some people keep telling us to “check our prices”… maybe ask the shop you’re buying from what size fish they actually use. 😉

Because $10.50 might have the cheaper price tag.. but $13.50 can still be the better value.

You asked, we listened… and ALL of our fish packs now come with COD (Hake) as standard! 🙌No more Dory trips as the stand...

You asked, we listened… and ALL of our fish packs now come with COD (Hake) as standard! 🙌

No more Dory trips as the standard fish in our packs - we’ve made the move to COD strips across the board.

And because our beautiful printed window menus clearly weren’t designed to keep up with us changing our minds,we’ll be absorbing the difference for now.

There will be NO immediate price increase until our menus and signage are updated.

This also means our Fish, Chips & Salad will now come with COD as standard instead of Dory.

And of course, if you want to go bigger... you can still upgrade your COD strip to a FULL COD fillet.

We said from the beginning that Pumicestone is a different market to Beachmere. We’ll listen, learn and make changes where they make sense.

I don’t get to work over this side very often - generally you’ll find me causing chaos over at our Beachmere store.

But for those who haven’t met me yet.. I’m Rach, one of the owners of Pumicestone Bites, alongside Ryan!

I’m also the social media face behind both businesses, so when you’re sending us messages, replying to posts or having a yarn in the comments.. there’s about a 98% chance you’re talking to me. Ryan occasionally jumps in when he escapes all the other business jobs we somehow keep creating for ourselves.
