Project Salubrious helps you nourish your body and mind every day - from midweek lunches to special occasions - through our cafe, catering, cooking classes, treats and take-home meals. It’s the creative expression of chef Kurt Lovell, and his passion for sharing the joys and flavour

s of vibrant, wholesome food. Kurt’s been delighting crowds through the kitchen for over 25 years, with a background in high-end restaurants across the globe. With fatherhood came a heightened interest in his family’s health, where ingredients were coming from, and the ‘good difference’ of eating well. The changes re-ignited his love for food and education, and now he’s passionate about helping others feel the same vitality. We make it easier for you to eat well - whether you’re a time-poor working parent, a paleo gym-junkie, a serious foodie looking to level-up in the kitchen, or planning an important celebration and don’t want to compromise on your health for the big day. As well as our cafe, we offer event catering, take-home reheatable (and freezer-friendly) meals, impressive cakes, nourishing breads and cooking classes -all created with Kurt’s attention to detail, and all free of gluten, grains, dairy and refined sugar. We use all-natural ingredients, organic and sourced locally where possible.

And that's a wrap on a la carte service at Project Salubrious ❤️ We're so grateful for your support not just over our final month, but for making the cafe what is was for the last 3.5 years. It's been an incredible time and we couldn't have done it without our amazing community, awesome staff, and brilliant team of farmers and suppliers.

Join us in wishing Kurt a well deserved, chilled out Sunday tomorrow, and don't forget we're still here for our locals - just scaled back with coffee, cakes, tarts and other lighter bites in the cabinet (new hours 7am-10am Monday-Friday)

It's our full menu's last hurrah - Friday and Saturday are our favourite days at the cafe, and we're looking forward to serving up our chicken kyiv, big breakfast, crepes and more for one last weekend.

This is your last chance to try PS classics like our Vietnamese pancake, fish tacos or big breakfast with Beachmere banger and bacon before we scale back to lighter morning service from Monday.

Thank you so much for all the kind words, memories shared and visits to the cafe since we shared the news on Friday.

Our new format of coffee, cakes, tarts and light bites from the cabinet will start Monday 2 March and run 7am-10am, Mondays to Fridays.

Until then, our summer menu is still in full swing - if our much-loved Vietnamese pancake or fish tacos have been on your bucket list, there's still a little time.

💬 A message from Kurt:

To our wonderful community,

We’ve come to the very tough decision to close the cafe (in its current form). Our last full a la carte service will be Saturday 28 February, and we will move to a simpler offering with coffee and the cake cabinet (7am-10am M-F) starting 2nd March.

It’s been an incredible 3.5 years, and I’m so proud of what we achieved in that time. Our Australian Good Food Guide award, being named a Best of QLD Experience, welcoming so many of you for meals and classes, and most importantly, being a haven for the gluten-free foodies out there - showing that gluten-free, dairy-free food can be made with as much flavour and care as you deserve (and that you could make a home for it in Burpengary).

Running a full service hospitality business is so rewarding, but hard - especially in recent years. I’m so proud to have been able to make it work when many doubted we could, but the hours and sacrifices do take their toll.

Becoming a father was what originally sparked my passion for looking for new ways to do things - showing that creative, higher end food doesn't have to come at the expense of your health. So it’s fitting that as my kids enter important milestone years, I’m scaling back to prioritise family and wellness.

Next week's breads masterclass will go ahead as planned.

Thank you for all of your support over the years. I hope we’ll see you again for breakfast or lunch between now and the 28th.

Had an excellent question come through about next week's GF Breads Masterclass: Buns & Muffins and thought we'd share.

We don't use a standard gluten-free flour you could just pull off the shelf. The disappointing taste and texture that can come from those overly-processed grain-based products is what led Kurt to be so determined to find an alternative.

Instead, you'll learn our easily-replicated blend of whole, nourishing, gut-friendly ingredients, and how to make it work for different bread types/flours.
