Old Joinery Lane Courtyard

Old Joinery Lane Courtyard It is a work in progress and as Spring brings forth glorious days we hope that you wander down the Lane and enjoy.

Old Joinery Lane Courtyard brings to life the 100+ year history of the Lane-way that gave access to a local joinery shop located at the rear of the property (the original concrete slab is still there!!). The Courtyard proudly uses reclaimed materials in 95% of its construction: from the massive timber posts, one of which houses the metal art bee; the 'Tractor' that sits proudly in the garden; recl

aimed pavers and courtyard seating, bed-ends forming enhancing the entry way, and the bits and bobs that make the courtyard feel special. There is a range of vintage bikes and trikes for the children to enjoy. You can order at the gathering cafe, just mention you are in the courtyard.

Down the garden path: and I finally have time to actually acknowledge what changes happen through Autumn.
It has been amazing watching the trees change color (forgot to take photos), some quickly and some sedately. And I still have trees thinking about it together with roses and Dahlias not realising that's its officially Winter.
A garden friend used a word I have been working towards over the last 8 years: microclimate. Finally I'm getting there, I have a newly self seeded tomato plant with flowers even!
The foundation trees were the twisted willow and conifer, both shining in amongst the garden.

The drawf Dutch box hedges around the London Park fish pond were very generously donated to OJL.
But parents pls watch little feet as the cause damage to small plants.
I've popped a low fence around these to help protect.
Your help is appreciated.

Down the driveway: anyone who's been here knows that down the driveway holds toys for children and a little ease time for parents.
This little fire engine has been here since day one. Even tho every week I find a little bit of him on the driveway he's hanging in.
His Big Brother truck went to the Big Fire Station in the sky a couple of years ago.
Sadly I think Little Mate might need to go soon too.
Do you have a fire truck you'd like to donate? The little ones seem to love fire trucks but they are hard to find. And they remember what toys are here so I'm reluctant to retire Little Mate without a newbie here.
Pls pm.

Down the garden path: belated I know but we were away for Mothers Day.

I'm so pleased the the gathering cafe picked my sway of Chrysanthemums to bring joy throughout the cafe on the day. And the are still looking wonderful.
These plants are tough like Mums. They have survived on their wits to bring us joy with perfect timing for all our amazing mums.

Down the garden path: these beautiful Dahlias just keep getting better with every flush of flowering. Their petals have a very delicate frill to them.
And a late blooming rose not to be outdone. Just Joey from hubby's late Mum who lived at Condobolin. A bit of a change for the poor thing.

Down the garden path: one tree to go in the Autumn planting calendar. The ones at the Courtyard really define the spaces: white Crepe Myrtles to the backdrop of the Plum Gorgeous hedge and a stunning Frank Jr Redpointe maple together with new seating.
Hard digging day yesterday.
Beautiful rain to settle things in.
Thanks to Peter at Nirvalley Homestead Nursery for my wonderful tree delivery.
