To my beautiful customers and community, I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year and say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
After 10 wonderful years running my humble fish and chip shop, I have made the very difficult decision to close the business. This was a long time coming but has not been an easy decision to make. Hospitality has been my life for over 50 years — I was quite literally born into it. My mum was flipping burgers while she was pregnant with me, and my girls were also brought up in our family shops. Food has always been my passion, even in between other jobs, hospitality was always where my heart lived.
But what I will miss the most is YOU.
The friendships, the loyalty, the laughs, the funny stories, the sad moments, the happy celebrations, and the genuine kindness you all showed me year after year. To those of you who travelled from all over Sydney, the eastern suburbs, Campbelltown and even the Blue Mountains, you know who you are. Seeing familiar faces return again and again meant more to me than I can ever put into words.
Along with the staff we served some of the best fish and chips here, and we will miss it, and now it’s time for me look after my health and spend quality time with my three beautiful grandchildren, Arthur, Layla and Andre. They are my world, and I’ve missed so much of their growing up while working long hours. I’m truly looking forward to being present, slowing down, and making memories with them. I also look forward to catching up with some of you along the way, I’ve got a few of your numbers already!!
I will keep the Neptune’s page open. Knowing me, after a good rest…who knows? I’ll always be cooking in my kitchen so you never know what’s around the corner.
Thank you for supporting a small local business. Thank you for your patience, your stories, and your trust.
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2026!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Take care, Irene ❤️
