Believed to have been built in the 1850's, the historic Buchan Caves Hotel has been an iconic part of the Buchan community for many years. Sadly the pub was lost to fire on April 8th, 2014. In an amazing show of support from the Buchan community all the way to the UK and USA, the Buchan Caves Hotel became the first crowd funded pub in the world! Owner/Managers at the time Marg and Greg Brick dedicated everything to get the Buchan Pub back up and running better than ever before. In 2024 Coran Johnson and Kirstie Pearce took up the leasehold on the pub. Their mission is to create a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can gather, connect and celebrate all that is wonderful about Buchan. By prioritising community well-being and reinvesting profits into local initiatives, Coran and Kirstie are building on the pub's legacy. Drop in and see them for the best parma and beer in Buchan!

A Sydney café owner has marked the removal of card surcharges by installing a coin-operated cover over the EFTPOS machine, charging customers 50c to access the terminal.

Customers without change can buy a 50-cent coin at the counter for $1.

The owner said customers had already started holding the cover open for the person behind them.

Instead, you’ve whipped out your permanent marker and left this little masterpiece on the side of our dunny for our cleaners to deal with.
