I still don’t think it has fully sunk in yet… 🥹❤️
Looking back at Saturday night, I still find myself thinking, “Did that really happen?” To receive this award is something I honestly never expected, and I’m still trying to take it all in.
Matt’s Filipino Cuisine has never just been a business to us. It’s a big part of our life and our family. It was built little by little over the last 14 years — through long days, late nights, sacrifices, mistakes, lessons, laughter, tears, faith, and a whole lot of love.
That’s why this recognition feels so personal.
When I think about this award, I don’t just think about that one night. I think about every person who has walked up to our stall, ordered our food, came back again, recommended us to a friend, booked us for a special celebration, sent us a kind message, shared our posts, or simply stopped to tell us, “We love your food.”
You may not realise how much those little things have meant to me over the years. There were times when I was tired, times when things were hard, and times when I wondered if all the work was worth it. And then someone would come along with a kind word or show their support, and somehow it gave me that little push to keep going. ❤️
So to everyone who voted for me and to everyone who has supported Matt’s Filipino Cuisine over these 14 years — thank you, truly. I wish I could personally hug and thank every single one of you. This award may have my name attached to it, but I know in my heart I didn’t get here on my own.
To the Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., the judges, sponsors and everyone behind the Broome Business Excellence Awards, thank you for seeing and recognising what we do. Being in a roplace with so many hardworking people from our community was already an honour, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.
To our wonderful crew and their families, thank you for giving your time, energy and heart to what we do. You are part of our family and part of this achievement too.
And to my husband Ronaldo , sister in law , nay connie and our children and our lovely crew - you are the ones who see everything behind the scenes. The tired days, the stress, the mess, the early mornings and late nights. You’ve sacrificed alongside me, helped me when I couldn’t do everything myself, and loved and supported me through it all. This is as much yours as it is mine. ❤️
After all of this, I’m still just me — a mother who loves her family, loves cooking for people, and tries to put a little bit of love into every plate we serve.
From the deepest part of my heart, thank you, Broome, for embracing our family and our food and for allowing us to do what we love for all these years.
I will never take that for granted.
And above everything, thank you God for carrying us through every season — the good ones and the difficult ones. I know we would not be here without His grace. 🙏❤️
This award may take a while to sink in… but the gratitude I feel is something I will carry with me forever. 🥹❤️
