WE’RE HIRING – CASUAL CHEF / COOK ALL-ROUNDER
We are expanding.
Wild Child Catering is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and versatile chef, cook or kitchen all-rounder to join the team in Brookstead, Queensland.
This is a casual position, hours dependant on functions and events. You will be working under the direction of the owner and executive chef, preparing hearty, home-style food for meal nights, private functions, weddings, community events and off-site catering.
Our catering styles are varied and may range from grazing platters, canapés and smaller courses through to hearty home-style meals, themed menus and large buffet services.
The role may include:
• Preparing and cooking a wide variety of meals
• Assisting with meal nights and smaller functions
• Catering at bowls clubs, weddings and other local venues
• Preparing grazing platters, canapés and buffet-style meals
• Setting up, serving and packing down catering events
• Packing and safely transporting food and equipment
• Travelling to and from local functions and events
• General kitchen duties, cleaning and food preparation
• Maintaining high food-safety and presentation standards
Applicants must:
• Have previous cooking or commercial kitchen experience
• Be comfortable preparing different styles of food and cuisine
• Be willing to learn and be trained in unfamiliar cooking styles
• Be adaptable and confident following recipes and direction
• Hold a current Food Safety Certificate
• Hold or be willing to obtain a current Police Check
• Present well and maintain professional hygiene standards
• Be reliable, enthusiastic and able to work efficiently
• Be available for weekend and occasional evening work
• Have reliable transport and be comfortable travelling to events
• Work well independently and as part of a small team
A qualified chef would be highly regarded; however, an experienced cook or capable kitchen all-rounder with the right attitude, skills and willingness to learn is encouraged to apply.
