Red letter day, just completed x20 External Beam Radiation Doses to hopefully eradicate my Prostate Cancer. Blood test in 3 months will confirm or deny successful intervention.

Have nothing but praise for the various Teams at Calvary Mater in Newcastle, from the Reception Staff, the Nurses, and the Radiation Oncology Delivery Team they run like a well-oiled machine (lousy metaphor I know) in an oasis of calm. Their skill, punctuality, precision and good humour leave private enterprise severely wanting.

Bev Moloney, partner, wife, and mate of 35 years passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning. Chef extraordinaire who looked after many travellers on the Pacific Highway for years.

MOLONEY Beverley Anne 16-4-1943 to 23-6-2021 passed away peacefully at home after an eighteen month battle with Brain Cancer. Much loved partner of Chris, dearest sister of Robert & Leigh, loving mother of Symantha, Bevan and Alison, and cherished grandmother of Leyna, Ava and Olivia. Bev is to be farewelled in a celebration of her life at the Denman Memorial Hall on Tuesday 6th July 2021 at 11:00 a.m. All who knew Bev are welcome to attend.
By special request please do not send flowers, but if you are so minded, a donation to the Mark Hughes Cancer Foundation will be most welcomed and reflects the families’ appreciation of the support the Foundation provided during Bev’s illness.

Getting very close to last days now, two weeks today we close the doors for good, except for a couple of bookings. Then 29 days later we depart for Newcastle to embrace retirement.

The end of an era.

It is with a certain amount of sadness that we wish to inform our friends and customers that Bev and I have finally managed to sell Melba's Verandah.
This of course is good news to Bev and I who have flown the flag for 14 years and now deem it is time for a break.
The purchaser is not going to retain the food business, and is going to re-establish Melba's as a grand family residence.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and our reception by our guests is reflected in our Facebook rating of 4.8/5 for which we thank each and every one of you.
We are closing the doors on Sunday 29th July but will be here until 29th August.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as are able to pop in whilst passing.

Easy to see that Bev is back, an enthusiastic early turnout welcomed Bev's return to the oven, and cook-top
